Franklin Central HS: 2020-21, Issue #2, 8-10-2020
Our students ROCK!!!
We also had a great time celebrating our freshmen by handing out Class of 2024 t-shirts and water bottles during lunches in the FA cafeteria on Wednesday and Thursday. We will be doing the same during lunches in the main cafeteria on Monday and Tuesday!
Speaking of new procedures...
Attendance
A new feature has been added to our Infinite Campus system! ALL students (both hybrid and online) will now be able to check themselves in for their virtual learning from home via their Infinite Campus student page. No more Google Form needed! Students will be required to do this every day that they are NOT on campus; when you are in a physical classroom, the teacher will still take attendance. Please click on the link below for instructions on how to complete the task. This week will be a "grace period" of sorts, so students will still receive the Google form link as a backup through Friday. Attendance should be entered no later than 9am each day.

Student Drop Off and Traffic Patterns
A few tweaks were needed to our student drop off patterns to make sure we can keep Franklin Road flowing as smoothly as possible. First of all, if you are dropping your child off for school in the mornings, they need to exit the car upon arrival. Please do not hold up the line by having your student wait inside the vehicle until 7:10.
Secondly, if you are dropping your child off at the Freshman Academy, we have altered the where you will be exiting the campus. Please take a look at our new Morning Drop-Off Map for the specifics.
Thank you all for your patience as we make the adjustments that will result in a more efficient morning for everyone!
From our Attendance Office: New Options for Calling in Absences
When calling the attendance line to report and absence or requesting an early dismissal, please be sure to listen to all of the options available. There is now a third attendance voicemail.
The three lines are-
Covid symptom line: To be used if experiencing symptoms or exposed only.
Absence line: To be used for non-Covid related symptoms or other reason for absence (funeral, appointments, etc.)
Early dismissal line: To be called two hours in advance in order for the student to leave early.
Thank you for your help in streamlining our attendance reporting!
FTCSC Online
ICYMI: Last Thursday, more information was sent out via Infinite Campus and email to all students in the FTCSC Online program. You can access the same information by clicking the link below-- it contains Edmentum contact information as well as a list of FAQs.
https://ftcsc.org/ftcsc-online-learning/
Additionally, all online learners will still see their traditional, in-school schedules when they look in Infinite Campus. This is necessary to hold a student's place in their courses in case they decide to return after the nine week commitment to online learning is complete. This is not an error and all of their Edmentum classes will be available within that program.
Attendance
Compulsory attendance laws still apply. Attendance can now be entered by virtual students daily, hybrid students when their cohort is at home, and every secondary student on Friday. More information on the new attendance procedure is detailed above, including a link to a "how to" video. Attendance should be completed ASAP every morning!
Don't forget to enter your attendance!!!

Updates from our Athletic Office
As for football, we are waiting on guidance from the Marion County Health Department as to the size of the crowds we are allowed to have. Once we get that information we will post it on our website and social media.
We will have concessions available under the state guidelines of offering only pre-packaged products at our home events.
Transportation fees can still be paid online through RevTrac. The site will be up and running later this week. If you want to pay the transportation fees in person with a check or cash, we will accept that in the athletic office.
We do have t-shirts and face masks that will be sold out of the athletic office if you are interested.
Returning to FC: Building-Specific Plan
***Doors will open to students at 7:10 AM***
General expectations: Signage around the building and common spaces. “Masks On, Keep Moving, Stay to the Right” etc. Some hallways designated one-way, roundabout in main commons to reduce face-to-face contact.
Entry/Exit: Please see new traffic patterns for car riders; two drop off points. PLEASE NOTE: There is a new route for people dropping off at the main entrance! Students will not be allowed to congregate in common spaces before school. Students should get their needed belongings and report directly to class. After school, students should go directly to their bus or car; again, no congregating will be allowed in an effort to maintain adequate social distancing.
Passing Periods: Walk like you drive-- stay on the right side of the hall/stairwell. Pay attention to designated one-way halls. No congregating; keep it moving. Masks must be worn. Water fountains are shut off. Students are encouraged to carry water bottles as water fountains will be shut off per MCDOH regulations.
Bathrooms: “Please limit to ____ occupants” signs. Departments assigned bathrooms to watch.
In the Classroom: The expectation is that masks be worn at all times in the classroom (unless classroom activity physically prohibits that, e.g.: band) and offices (guidance, deans, main, etc.)
Lunches: Lunchroom capacity limited and structured for social distancing. Sign in sheets/QR codes at tables. Don’t move chairs. Main Cafeteria: One side entry (south doors), one side exit (north doors). Announcement/different sound to dismiss from classes to lunchroom. Masks will only be removed to eat and/or drink. Masks must be worn in line, at tables when finished eating, and when entering/exiting the cafeteria.
Breakfast: Students can only enter the cafeteria if they are buying breakfast. Must sit two to a table and socially-distanced between people at each table. Masks will only be removed to eat and/or drink. Masks must be worn in line, at tables when finished eating, and when entering/exiting the cafeteria.
Hallways:
The main commons area will be a roundabout. The guidance office hallway will be moving south only. The cafeteria hall (next to the science wing) will be moving north only. Masks on at all times in the halls.

Student Schedules
Students and parents are reminded that schedules will only be changed due to error or lack of prerequisites. Changes of mind, teacher requests, and lunch changes cannot be honored.
At this point, the only schedule changes that are allowed are due to errors or to drop a course for a study hall. Students enrolled in seven courses may drop one course for a study hall during the first five days of each semester without grade penalty. Students are not allowed to drop an AP or Pre-AP class for a study hall.
Any errors or requests to drop a course for a study hall should be directed to the student's counselor via the Schedule Change Form on the FC website under Guidance Counseling. Requests to drop a course for a study hall must be approved by parent or guardian.

New immunization requirements for 2020-21
The new immunization requirements for the 2020-2021 school year are below. All students K-12 will now need 2 doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine given six months apart.
Students over the age of 16 can get the booster dose (#2 MCV4 or Menactra) meningitis vaccine which is required for senior year as well. Please check your child’s shot record and contact your provider to schedule appointments.
If you do not have a regular physician, contact the Marion County Health Department at 317-221-5700 to find out about appointments or same day services. Community Clinic at Walgreens is another resource for immunizations. Please call 1-855-626-7761 for locations and appointment information.
Lastly, attached is information regarding the flu, covering your cough, and handwashing. By simply covering your cough and adhering to good hand hygiene, this minimizes the spreading of these germs.

As per Senate Enrolled Act 65, the school is required to send two notices allowing parents to either consent or decline instruction on a specific topic dealing with human sexuality. This is the first notice.
