September Happenings
This week on Thursday, Sept. 3rd, students will arrive at school two hours later so that teachers can participate in staff development. So, if you normally drop off your child at 7:50, on Thursday, they should arrive at 9:50 AM. On Friday, September 4th, midterms end and your child's grades will be sent home on Tuesday, September 8th. If you have questions on your child's grades, please contact the teacher. If your child has scored a D or lower in a subject, a summary will be sent home. This will indicate any assignments that are missing. Your child will have until the first of October to bring up their grades.
The PTO will meet on the second Tuesday of every month, September 8th will be the date for this month. The meetings begin at 6:30 PM in the cafeteria. We encourage parents to come to the meetings to give your input to this important group that supports our school. They plan wonderful events for our students! We have a family dance scheduled for later in September. More information will be coming home on the dance.
Grandparents' Day celebration is coming up this month! On September 15th from 9:00-10:30, we will host Grandparents' Day for kindergarten through second grade. Grandparents for students in grades 3-5 will visit on September 16th from 9:00-10:30. There will be a short program in the gym beginning at 9:00 AM. We ask Grandparents to come in and have a seat in the gym. We will set up chairs for those who cannot climb bleacher steps. The students will perform and then we will give directions on where the students and Grandparents are to start their visit. We will have picture opportunities in the gym, refreshments in the cafeteria, the book fair in the library, and visits to classes planned. We always consider it an honor to have our Grandparents visit with us. The refreshments are sponsored by the PTO. If a Grandparent has children in two grade level groups, they may visit either day. A special friend may be invited if your grandchild has no grandparent(s) who are able to attend.
Pictures will also be taken of all students for our yearbook on September 17th. There will be information sent home before picture day. There are ways to purchase pictures online or you may send the money to school. Crabtree Photography will take our pictures.
The mobile health unit is continuing to visit our school parking lot each Friday from 8:30-11:30 AM. This is open to the community. Also, Open Door will be providing dental exams
and sealant placements for any student who has signed permission. You may pick up permission forms in the school clinic or we can send them home with your child. The dates for the sealant program is September 22nd and 23rd.
