McClure Message Week 5
September 19 - 23
This week we navigated the different schedules with ease and spirit. Our first homebase day was tons of fun! Students got into the lessons on collaboration with group challenges and I could hear the laughter spilling out of classrooms everywhere. It was fantastic to visit our classrooms and see students working together to solve a puzzle or build a tower, or find commonalities.
We had a weeklong celebration of McClure spirit with our spirit days and our Rainbow Rally. The Rally was was a great culmination of the week, please enjoy the colorful photos below. We'll have many more photos of the event, but it will take a bit until they are compiled.
The next upcoming event to look out for is our Car and Bike Wash on Sunday, September 25.
This week we've also wrapped up the majority of MAP testing, with just a few make-ups happening next week.
McClure Student/Parent Handbook
It can be hard to find time to dive into the whole document, so for the first part of the year, I'll summarize small sections of our handbook.
Lunch: Some lunch reminders from the handbook and regarding Parent Council Fun Lunches.
- Any Fun Lunch changes should please be communicated to Mrs. Kelly Fuhr (kfuhr@d101.org) by September 26. No changes will be accepted past this date.
- Food for a group at lunch is not permitted.
- Milk (white and Chocolate) is for sale each day for $.25
- Students who have forgotten a lunch may take out a lunch loan for snack items from the vending machine. Loans may accrue only up to $4.00.
- Parents dropping off a lunch may do so in the grade level drawers in our main office lobby. (No drinks in the drawers please.)
- Occasionally we have had 3rd party deliveries (Door Dash, etc.) of lunches. This is discouraged.

Parent Resources
A date to put on your calendar: On October 4th at 7pm we will host Dr. Brooks Gibbs for a parent presentation in the McClure gym. Dr. Brooks is a social psychologist who has presented over 3,000 school assemblies and has impacted over 2 million students around the country. You can view a quick preview of Dr. Brooks here, and he has several videos available on YouTube.
Dr. Brooks specializes in teaching youth how to be emotionally resilient, especially when faced with peers acting unkindly. His presentation style is down-to-earth and humorous. He'll present to our students during an all school assembly during the school day on October 5th.
Dr. Brooks is also the author of "Love is Greater Than Hate," which was a best-seller on Amazon and was named one of the top 10 books to help teens.
