EHS Bias Response Panel

We have 3 available spots for students on the EHS Bias Response Panel this year. If you would like to learn more about the Bias Response panel, please speak with Porchea Tipton or Tamara Parks. If you would like to apply, here is the form to complete. Students on the Bias Response panel will receive a $40 stipend for each bias response meeting, and for each monthly whole group meeting.

9th Grade meetings

Starting on September 27th the school counseling office will be hosting our 9th grade meetings. These 30-minute meetings are designed to introduce the role of the high school counselor and for relationship building between the student and the school counselor. Students will receive an email invitation in their school email which will include the day and time of the meeting. School Counselors promote healthy well-being through the high school years by providing academic counseling, personal counseling, and college/career counseling.

EHS will be hosting the PSAT on Wednesday, October 13th. We are running the PSAT differently this year, and participating in the testing is optional for 11th graders. On average 2-6 EHS students will qualify each year for the National Merit Scholarship (NMSQT) program and 1-3 may earn a scholarship resulting from their PSAT score and an application process. The NMSQT is not applicable to most but it is an important consideration. The costs for the PSAT are covered this year by the Collegeboard because EHS has signed on to a research project with the Collegeboard.

The PSAT takes roughly 3.5 hours to complete. EHS supports our students in completing the PSAT and we invite any interested student to sign up by completing this PSAT sign-up form that is being emailed directly to 11th-grade students in their school email. Students must be signed into their school email account in order to complete the PSAT sign-up form. Students and families are welcome to speak with their school counselor with any questions or to learn more. The collegeboard website PSAT section is an excellent source of information.

Free Meals Reminder from Child Nutrition

All EWSD students are entitled to one breakfast and one lunch daily. You must select one entree, these are defined at the entrance to each serving line or for the grab and go line, on the screens above the windows. You must also select at least one fruit or vegetable. Milk, chips, juice, and additional fruit and veggies are available but not required.

This is a USDA regulation and our compliance is not optional. This may seem like a waste if you do not want to eat the required fruit or vegetable but we have no flexibility with the regulations. We are working to implement a "share" cooler inside the cafe and will provide more information when it is available. In the meantime, please take what's required and bring home or give to a friend anything that you don't want to consume.

When you are finished eating, please discard your trash, recycling, and compost into the appropriate receptacle. Thank you.
