November, 2017
There is a mandatory collaboration meeting on Thursday, November, 30th. See you there!
Hour of Code
It's almost here! The Hour of Code is December 4th - 10th this year. We will celebrate with the return of Coding Cafe! This year we will be using only robots during Coding Cafe. Grades 1-5 teachers will receive three tickets per day for Coding Cafe. It will run December 4th through December 19th and be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in the STEM lab. Let me know if you have any questions!
Remember your students can visit Code.org through Clever to work more on coding. I'll be happy to meet with you and figure out a good starting point for your students!
This looks cool! Use Scratch to create a Google Doodle! Check out the link to see if you might want to use it with your kids. There are lesson plans and tutorial videos to help!
Goal Setting and Reflection
Wondering why we should have students set goals and reflect? This is a great article. Looking for tools to use for student reflection? Google Slides, Seesaw, and Flipgrid have proven to be useful for student reflection. Google Drawings and Wixie would also be beneficial for the students to use. I'll gladly help you get started! How can you support your students when they reflect? Check out this document for questions that will help students reflect on what they have learned.
Thanksgiving Fun
Using Quozio, have the students type what they are thankful for and choose a background. Hit Ctrl+Alt+(button above the 6), it will take a screen shot that students can crop and post to Seesaw or Google Classroom.
Use this template to play Thanksgiving Boggle. Fill in some letters and have the kids come up with words!
Don't forget that Brainpop has movies and activities!
Students can post a selfie in Seesaw and add labels to tell what they are thankful for.
