November's Character Focus: Gratitude
The Shannon Park Acts of Character Program revolves around teaching, promoting and recognizing positive character traits in students. During the month of November, we will be focusing on the character trait of Gratitude. Gratefulness is more than a feeling - it involves action! Gratitude is letting others know by my words and actions how they have benefited my life.

Thank You for Your Service
Thank you for your participation in honoring family members for Veterans' Day. The hallways are filled with so many Shannon Park family and community members! Thank you to all those in our community who have served and our Shannon Park Family members that are serving today. If you would still like to honor a veteran, please complete the form below, or pick a form up during conferences near the main office!
We have been very busy in Preschool. We had a visit from the Rosemount Fire Department, a visit from a nature specialist, parent day, and many other amazing experiences. We have transitioned into our nature unit and are learning to observe the changes happening in the world outside and how those changes impact us. We are learning that the many changes in the weather mean we have to dress differently on different days and sometimes, we need to dress differently on the same day. Jackets, hats, and mittens are going on and off this time of year and we are learning how to take care of these items for ourselves. We have had several opportunities for nature hikes and experiences in the natural wetland around the school. While in the natural wetland, we learned about safe sticks and how to build stick houses for the critters who live there. We learned about predicting what things will sink and float in the small stream and we learned that when shoes accidently slip in, they get wet. We are learning that our classroom extends beyond the walls of the school. We are truly becoming a school family.
Community-wide Service Project
This year's community service project is sponsored by the Kindness Council and is in partnership with the Rosemount Family Resource Center. Shannon Park Elementary is collecting non-perishable food items for this community organization and a tangible way for students to practice gratitude and compassion. If you would like your child to participate, please drop off or send any items with your child to Shannon Park between November 13-28. (
