Well known artists, such as Arthur Miller, were accused of communist sympathies and called before the House of Un-American Activities Committee during the Red Scare. In total, 320 artists were blacklisted. For many, this was the end of promising careers. By 1954, McCarthyism had died down and some actors and writers were able to return to work.

The Salem Witch Trials occurred in Massachusetts between 1692 and 1693. Over 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft and twenty people were executed. Later on, the colony realized the trials were a mistake and the families of those convicted were compensated.

The Ground Zero Mosque is persecuted by many Americans, especially by the families of those who died on September 11, 2001. The mosque is not on Ground Zero, but only two blocks away. Targeting the Muslim community is anti-ethical to America's founding ideals.

Many conservatives believe that upstanding, hard-working Americans are getting taken advantage of by lazy people who need money. If the poor cannot be killed by fire like the witches of the 1690s, conservatives will kill them with untreated illness and hunger.

The trials began after a group of young girls in Salem Village, Massachusetts claimed to be possessed by the devil. They accused several locals of witchcraft and a special court in Salem was set up to hear the cases.
