Arthur Miller was born in Harlem, New York on October 17, 1915. Miller attended the University of Michigan before becoming one of America's most famous playwrights. His first play, Death of a Salesman, opened on Broadway in 1949. Many of his plays, including The Crucible, were inspired by his rocky marriage to Marilyn Monroe, and his refusal to cooperate with the House of Un-American Activities Committee. Married three times, Miller died at age 89 on February 10, 2005.

Many conservatives believe that upstanding, hard-working Americans are getting taken advantage of by lazy people who need money. If the poor cannot be killed by fire like the witches of the 1690s, conservatives will kill them with untreated illness and hunger.
