High Lakes News
September 2016
Note from our Principal
Welcome Back!
We are so excited about the new school year! We started off with an awesome “Meet the Teacher and BBQ” that were both a huge success. I want to thank all the volunteers that made that night so fun for all of our families. And now, staff, students, and even families are settling in and getting used to the daily school routine.
Our enrollment is up this year and we have many new students who we welcome into our High Lakes family. As we know, growth comes with a few challenges. We are still working on some options to improve some of the issues we are having. The open-mindedness of all of our families when it comes to such challenges is appreciated.
One important way for parents to connect with the school is by attending Curriculum Night. We would like to invite all of you to Curriculum Night so that you can become more familiar with your child’s teacher, the expectations for their classrooms, and the curriculum for the year.
Curriculum Nights are as follows:
Tuesday, September 20th
5:00 – First Grade
5:45 – Second Grade
Wednesday, September 21st
5:00 – Third Grade
5:45 – Fourth Grade
6:30 – Fifth Grade
In an effort to make High Lakes an even safer place for all of our students and staff, we will be piloting and transitioning to a security check-in/out system called “Raptor”. It requires that any visitor/volunteer be set up in the system with their state issued ID. This process does take a few minutes and you can complete it at our office. We appreciate your patience. Our goal is to get everyone logged into the system before November 1st. So far, all of the parent feedback has been positive on this new system.
As always, thanks for helping us build a better community.
Linda
