BHA Board of Education — Annual Banquet Update
We would like to send out a heartfelt Thank You to all those who attended and donated towards BHA's 2023 Annual Banquet Dinner: "Investing in the Next Generation" this past weekend.
Follow the link below to view highlights of the banquet, including a very special recognition to Ms. Monica Al-Amin for her 25 years of service, and counting, and to Ms. Tamador El-Youssef for retiring after 12 years of service to BHA, masha'Allah!
Alhamdulillah by the Grace of Allah, and with the generosity and support of our parents and community members, BHA was blessed to raise over $225,000 this year and donations are still trickling in. As discussed during the presentation by the Board of Education, the funds raised will be directly applied toward our $1.4 million loan, as we stay on track to complete our goal of paying off this debt within the next 5 years, bi'idthnillah.
While the event was a huge success for our school, our fundraising goal for this year remains at $275,000. We encourage all parents to continue to help us reach this goal. Please consider donating to BHA via the following links below, insha'Allah.
As a reminder, your donations are Zakaat eligible, and are tax deductible.
Jazakum Allahu Khayr.
With gratitude,
BHA Board of Education & Administration

Syria and Turkey Earthquake Relief: Bake sale at ICSD this Friday
Alhumdulilah, we had a very successful bake sale this past Friday at ICSD-East County raising funds for the survivors of the Turkey/Syria Earthquake. Jazakum Allahu khairan to our parent volunteers who baked delicious goodies to sell and to our wonderful students who came on their day off to help.
We have one more chance to help these victims, insha'Allah. We will have a bake sale this Friday, February 24, at Masjid Abu Bakr ICSD. We are looking for our wonderful BHA families to donate baked goods. Please use the sign-up sheet below and let us know what you can bring. We ask that all items are wrapped or placed in zip lock bags individually for sale and can be dropped off to AG Campus by 11:30 am Friday or brought to ICSD by 12 pm. All proceeds will be donated to Droplets of Mercy, a registered nonprofit organization distributing aid to Turkey & Syria. May Allah SWT reward you for your contributions and help!

Opportunity for Students 7th - 12th Interested in Healthcare
Mariam Hmoud works at Rady Children's Hospital and is part of the teen advisory group called iCAN (International Children's Advisory Network). The organization has chapters worldwide, and Mariam leads the San Diego and Orange County chapter (CHOC-Rady).
iCAN is a group that advocates for pediatric voices in healthcare. The teens in the chapter review and provide feedback on educational material that goes out to patients in the hospital, create newsletters for teenage patients, take part in community events, and more. It is an excellent opportunity for 7th - 12th graders at BHA who are interested in the healthcare field to network with healthcare professionals, build leadership skills, and collaborate with others who share similar interests. The group meets virtually once a month at 6 pm and has in-person events and activities as well.
You can see their website here: https://www.icanresearch.org/
Any who are interested can email ican@rchsd.org to learn more and join their next meeting.
In addition, this summer iCAN is hosting the international conference at UCSD, where all the chapters from around the world will come together for one week. Mariam's chapter will be involved in organizing and planning for this exciting event.
