Term 1 - Issue 4 25th March 2021
PRAYER FOR HOLY WEEK
PUPIL FREE DAY MONDAY 19th APRIL
FIRST DAY OF TERM 2 - TUESDAY 20th APRIL
PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Welcome to the last newsletter for Term 1. It's hard to believe we have made our way through 8 weeks of school and managed to fit in a number of school activities. Looking back throughout the term, there is lots to be proud of in the way your children have navigated the start to a new school year - especially with the disruption of the very first week. The children have earned themselves a relaxing holiday break, which will be marked by the most significant event in the Church calendar, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Term 1 Social Reports
Next Tuesday, 30th March, parents will receive our Term 1 Social Reports. These reports identify a number of personal and social skills that demonstrate how your child approaches their learning and work habits within the classroom. They are a valuable tool in providing parents with some feedback in regards to how your child has transitioned to the expectations and routines of a new year level. Please take the time to discuss with your child and should you have any questions regarding these reports, please contact the classroom teacher to discuss.
CyberSafety Hub
A reminder to parents to check out our new cybersafety hub. This provides plenty of information on navigating the online space with your child, including everything from screen time to posting on social media. It can be accessed here: http://www.stfrancisbutler.cybersafetyhub.com.au
SEQTA Engage
As outlined at the beginning of this year, we will be moving our Semester One and Two academic reports online and release via Seqta Engage. Tomorrow, parents will receive an email from Seqta to set up their account. This will be essential in viewing your child's report next term. Plenty of assistance will be available for parents who have any difficulties. Please check your nominated email account by close of business tomorrow to follow instructions to set up Seqta Engage. For enquiries, please email mailto:ithelp@stfrancisbutler.wa.edu.au
IMCC Bursary 2022
A reminder to Year 6 parents that the Irene McCormack Bursary Applications are now open. The St Francis of Assisi Bursary is available to Year 6 children and through an application process, the successful applicant is offered significant fee discounts throughout the family's time at IMCC. Those parents and Year 6 children who are members of St Andrew's Parish are also welcome to apply for the St Andrew's Parish Bursary. Applications for both are available from the office or alternatively you can go onto IMCC's website and download the forms.
2021 Fee Statements & Payment Options Form
These were emailed out (and a paper copy sent home). If you haven't already done so, parents need to tick the appropriate box and email/send the form back to mailto:finance@stfrancisbutler.wa.edu.au. Families that have yet to return the form will be contacted shortly. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact the email address above to arrange an appointment with me to discuss.
Kindergarten 2022
Children born between 1st July 2017 to 30 June 2018 are due to commence Kindergarten next year. Please contact the school office for enrolment forms or download the application form from our school website. We will be holding our Kindy interviews early next term. If you know of any other families interested in their children attending our Kindy 2022 program please ask them to contact the school office.
Kindy Parents Arvo in the Playground - 3pm to 4:30pm
Tomorrow, we invite all parents and children in Kindy to hang around after school to socialise for some afternoon tea in the playground. In trying to build relationships in our community, Kindy parents and children (including siblings) are welcome to stay and enjoy a play together out on the grass.
Stations of the Cross - Friday 26th March @ 6pm
Thanks to Mrs Mieschbuehler, we have a number of children performing the Stations of the Cross this Friday 26th @ 6pm at St Andrew's Parish. Parents are welcome to join us for a reverent reconstruction of Christ's journey before his crucifixion.
Last Day of Term 1 - Thursday 1st April (Holy Thursday)
Next Thursday, 1st April will see Term 1 conclude with our usual P&F Community Lunch (Fish & Chips). We will come together as a school to watch the children perform the Stations of the Cross, which will be followed by the Community Lunch. Parents are encouraged to attend the Stations of the Cross and stay for the Community Lunch, sending a message to our children of the importance of this time of year.
- 11:30am Stations of the Cross (Parents Invited)
- 12:30am P&F Community Lunch (Fish & Chips)
Parents who are taking their child home after lunch are reminded that they will need to sign their child out via a QR Code. A reminder that this is NOT Safe WA. Parents will need a QR Code Reader on their phone that is different to Safe WA.
Finally, the end of Term 1 marks the beginning of Mrs Kinder's (PPB) parental leave. Although we are sad to be losing such a wonderful member of our community and fantastic early childhood teacher, we are also excited for her and the amazing journey of parenthood ahead. We wish Mrs Kinder and Mr Kinder (6W) all the very best for the arrival of their new baby girl and we look forward to meeting the 'Kinder Surprise' in the near future.
Footy season is back, with the Eagles having a good win against the Suns. Oscar Allen looks to be taking over the competition as a gun forward and Tim Kelly was all class. Unfortunately, for Dockers supporters poor Alex Pearce will again be on the sidelines but they have an exciting group of youngsters who will hopefully lead the way alongside veterans, Mundy and Fyfe. Good luck to whoever you support!
The Easter break is a wonderful time to celebrate all we should be thankful for and I wish all families a blessed and holy time over Easter. Stay safe over the school holidays and enjoy some much needed rest with family and friends. We look forward to seeing you all back fresh and happy on Tuesday 20th April.
Best wishes
