I Behave As Though This Is The Day I Will Be Remembered For.

Note from the Principal's Desk - MAY 2022

Happy Spring… Warmer weather has finally arrived, albeit a bit inconsistent! Lawn work is getting done and we’re emerging from winter hibernation. Parents, we are embracing the opportunity to attend field trips now; please pay your additional school fees, as we depend on this money to offer top-quality educational opportunities for students.

Registration has nearly concluded for the 2021-22 school year. Due to the popularity of our outstanding programs, Elmer S. Gish School once again will have closed boundaries, except for Global students in our own attendance areas. If you have not re-registered for next year, please contact the office asap! 780-459-7766.

We are looking forward to celebrating year-end activities with students and parents. By pre-arrangement, parent volunteers are now able to serve with specific activities. Please be sure to communicate with teachers. We are REALLY looking forward to experiencing these events: Gish School’s Dinner Theatre (drama/theatre students), Track Meet, Gish Farewells (Gr. 6 & 9), and Gish Day Out (rewards).

Classroom & Teacher Requests: PLEASE respect Gish teachers’ professionalism in determining the optimal class placement for your child(ren) next year. We ask that you NOT make specific requests. We consider many factors including work habits, gender, personalities, positive friendships, academic ability, character qualities, etc. and meet several times to re-check our decisions. If you have educational reasons to support a specific placement, please share details in a letter to Principal Strembitsky by May 13. We will not be making changes to class lists in August and September.

Once again, thank you for your tremendous support and assistance as we overcome our challenges. We certainly look forward to returning to “the old normal” in terms of schooling for next year.

John Strembitsky - Principal

Sue Werner - Assistant Principal

Kris Horb - Assistant Principal

Donations for the community food bank will be collected from May 16 to May 27. More information will be sent home the week prior. This is part of our iLead initiative.
