STAR TESTING BEGINS NOVEMBER 11TH
STAR Testing will begin Monday, November 11th for grades 6th-8th.
Schedules will come out soon!
Q: What are Star Assessments?
A: Star Assessments are short tests that provide teachers with learning data. Star tests are computer adaptive, which means they adjust to each answer your child provides. This helps teachers get the best data to help your child in the shortest amount of testing time (about one-third of the time other tests take).
Your child may take a Star test for early literacy, math, reading, or other subjects of their teacher’s choice.
Q: What do teachers do with Star Assessments?
A: Teachers analyze the data they get from Star Assessments to learn what students already know and what they are ready to learn next, to monitor student growth, and to determine which students may need additional help. Star Assessments are heavily researched and scientifically proven to help teachers guide each student on his or her unique path to mastery.
Q: What do Star Assessments do for my child?
A: By pinpointing exactly what your child knows, teachers can personalize your child’s practice to keep them growing. Plus, short test times ensure your child spends more time learning and less time testing.
VETERANS DAY PROGRAM
On Monday, November 11, 2019, the ROCORI High School and Middle School will be honoring our veteran's in two separate, yet meaningful, programs. The high school students will be hosting area veterans in the high school gym with a traditional program that includes the presentation of the colors, the pledge of allegiance, the National Anthem, a tribute video, and taps. The middle school students will have a similar presentation in their Spartan Time. They will watch the same video and have discussion with their groups. Each guest and student will also be given the name of a ROCORI graduate who has joined and served in the military. This will allow our students and guests to make personal connections to the festivities. There will be a reception for the veteran's and their families after the high school program. The high school program will begin at 10:25 AM.
Drumline Open House
There will be a drumline open house next Monday (11th) at 5:30 in the band room. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to come. If you are unable to attend, please stop by and talk to Mr. Hutar.
MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH DEPARTMENT
Middle School 8th Grade Math and Algebra students are learning to solve and graph linear equations and inequalities. They will be extending their study to solving systems of equations by graphing, substitution, and elimination.
Students in Algebra class practice their fraction and linear equation skills using a modified version of the Jenga game.
Angel Account
Sometimes life is hard, and unforeseen circumstances arise. This is why there is a NEW Food Service Angel Account in ROCORI. This account is set up to provide families that are struggling with financial hardship an opportunity to “catch up” on foodservice payments through donations. When applicable, the “ANGEL” Account is accessed to provide hot lunches to students.
Would you like to donate to the account? Now you can easily do this through REVTRACK, our online payment center at ROCORI. Just log into REVTRACK and choose the ANGEL Account Button on the Main Menu. In addition, you can send a check (To ROCORI) or connect with our Food Service Director, Chris Barker (barkerc@rocori.k12.mn.us) to find out more information.
