OPE Library

A newsletter for OPE parents and students

August 2013

Welcome Back!

We are excited to see all of our returning and new students for the 2013-2014 school year! Newsletters will be sent to parents throughout the year to share library news and provide information about new books, reading programs, special events, and much more. Please contact us at Ocean Palms Elementary for more information or to let us know how we can help you and your student.

Library Orientations

Students will begin visiting the library for their media resource classes on August 29. Everyone will have the opportunity to learn more about what the media center has to offer and review rules and procedures. We will cover important information such as where books are located, how books are arranged, book care, and how many books can be checked out. Look for your students to start bringing library books home after their first media resource class.

Lending Library

OPE now has a lending library for parents. You can borrow copies of Stephen Covey's The Leader in Me. Students are learning how to become leaders and practicing skills to become respectful and responsible citizens of our school and community with The 7 Habits of Happy Kids by Sean Covey. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about The Leader in Me initiative. Please see Mrs. Fodor in the front office if you would like to borrow the book.

Library Facts

Students will be able to visit the library independently after all classes have attended orientation. Beginning September 10, students can ask their teachers for permission to visit the library during instructional time. Students will be notified in the coming weeks when the library will open for checkout during morning arrival.
