Parent Teacher Conferences

Quarter 3 ends on March 6th. If you have concerns about your child's grades, please contact their teacher for a parent-teacher conference this month, and they can also review your student's NWEA MAP Report with you from the Winter administration.


If you haven't done so already, please make sure you log in to Skyward so you can see the most up to date information regarding your student's grades, attendance, and discipline!

Interventions at HSI-GP

At HSI-GP, we are dedicated to providing targeted interventions to our students based on their needs, and we have several options in which to provide this: ELA lab class, Math lab class, Power Hour, and after school tutorials.

In Lab Class, teachers are pulling all students into small groups to work with them on the specific standards the students need extra help in. This is based on the most recent assessment data, such as the latest district assessments and curriculum based assessments.

In Power Hour, students will focus on reading for one week and math the other week, and they will be grouped based on their needs. Students who are performing on grade level based on their assessment history will receive enrichment in STEAM, technology, Band, and/or PE. Students who are not performing on grade level will be given intervention services by either the core teacher or an interventionist, depending on the student's level of need. For 4th and 5th grade students in band, if your student is not performing on grade level per the assessment data, they will not be able to participate in band during Power Hour. They are, however, encouraged to participate in the after school club! We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

After-School Tutorials are offered to small groups of students based on their needs, and teachers have sent notices letting you know if your student is required to attend and what day of the week the tutorials are. Additionally, we offer Saturday Tutorials on scheduled Saturdays throughout this semester. These groups will be revisited after each major assessment, and you will be notified if your student is dismissed from tutorials or if they are added to tutorials.

We are currently in the process of reviewing each student's data to determine their current levels and what interventions are needed. Very soon, you will receive a notification of what intervention services your student will receive. For some of our students, we will invite you for a meeting to discuss your student's progress and to discuss the plan we have in place for them.

If you have concerns about your student's academic progress, please schedule a time to speak with or meet with your student's teacher, and they will be able to share more information and things you can do with your student at home to help. Working together, we strive to provide every student with support system so they can achieve their highest potential

Practice STAAR is this week.

Third through Fifth grades will test February 18th-21st in the morning. The campus will be closed to visitors during testing.

Perfect Attendance Rewards!

We will start a new attendance incentive program Tuesday. There will be flyers to send home in the homeroom teachers' boxes. When a class has perfect attendance during the second period attendance , we will do shout outs to all the classes who achieved perfect attendance during the next morning's announcements and add letters to the bulletin board in the hallway near the teacher workroom. When you've gotten all the letters for Perfect Attendance your class can choose a prize from the list of rewards. Then we will remove all the letters and you can start earning again. Parent Notification of A la Carte Meal Option

Child Nutrition now offers an a la carte meal available for purchase during both breakfast and lunch. Because this is an a la carte purchase, eligibility benefits do not apply. For example, a student of free eligibility would be charged the same amount for the meal as a paid student. Breakfast option will be cereal, fruit, and milk for a price of $1.75 Lunch option will be sandwich, vegetable, and milk for a price of $2.50 The regular breakfast and hot lunch will continue to be available as usual. Parents will be responsible for paying meal account balances accrued by their child. Meal account balances may be viewed in School Café. If you do not want your child purchasing the a la carte meal, you may log in to your School Café account and block a la carte purchases. To do so, click on the link to the left for “Purchase Restrictions.” Indicate which days a la carte purchases are allowed and the spending limit. Note that cash payments are not accepted in the serving line. All payments must be either made online through School Café or in the school office. Contact your school’s Child Nutrition Assistant if you have any questions.

El departamento de Nutrición Infantil ahora ofrece comida a La Carta, disponible para comprar durante el desayuno y el almuerzo. Como se trata de una compra a La Carta, los beneficios de elegibilidad no aplican. Parent Lunch Duty Volunteers Needed!

We are looking for volunteers to help with lunch duty. This is a great way to enjoy lunch with your student and help out! We have three lunch periods we need help with covering. You may sign up for one lunch period or as many as you would like! Responsibilities will include: Directing students to lunch tables and through the lunch line, monitoring and assisting students with lunch items, and helping with clean up and lunch dismissal.
