Boys & Girls Basketball Win District Championships; Advance To State Sectionals

For the first time in school history the boys and girls basketball programs won District Championships in the same season. Howell hosted the Class 5 District 4 Tournament over the course of the past week. Over 2000 fans witnessed the district tournament over the course of the week.

The girls program started off Friday night with a thrilling 52-41 win over Lafayette. The girls program was able to earn their third district title in the past four years and the first under head coach Morgan Muench. The Lady Vikings are coming off of another conference championship and have moved their record to 20-8 on the season earning them their third 20 win season in the past four years. The girls will face off with St. Joes Academy on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Lindenwood University in the State Sectionals.

The boys basketball program earned their District Championship with a 69-62 win over Eureka. With the win the Vikings moved to 25-3 on the season and earned their first district title since 2012. The boys basketball program has now had four straight 20 win seasons and has won four straight conference championships. The boys will now face off with Chaminade on Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. at Lindenwood University in the State Sectionals.

29 Choir Students Qualify For State Contests

The Howell Choir had a great Saturday as 29 students qualified to perform at State Contests at Mizzou on April 28. These students have been preparing all year for a chance to perform at State Contests. Below you can find a recap of a great day for the Howell Choir. STUCO Raises $500 For Friends Of Kids With Cancer

Thank you to all of our students and staff that participated in the "Hats On" day to benefit the Friends of Kids With Cancer organization. Through STUCO $500 was raised on Friday to benefit the great organization. Congratulations to STUCO on a great event that benefits so many young children in need!

Katya Gehrin Earns Prudential Spirit Of The Community Award

Congratulations to Katya Gehrin for her service to the community through the Make A Wish Club at Howell. She was recently awarded the Prudential Spirit of the Community Awards Certificate of Excellence. Katya started the Make-A-Wish Club at Francis Howell last school year and has worked to expand the club within the building. Last school year, the Make-A-Wish Club raised over $11,000 to grant two wishes to children in our area. This year the club has already granted a wish and is currently continuing their efforts in raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Congratulations to Katya and our Make-A-Wish Club for their great efforts in our building and community.

STUCO & Make-A-Wish Club Team Up For "Wish Wars"

Our very own Howell STUCO & Make-A-Wish Club are teaming up to bring Vikings a new opportunity to support our community through the "Wish Wars" during March! This grade level competition will allow students to compete against other grades in working towards raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation! Donuts will be given to the grade level that raises the most money over the course of the two week event. Below you can find the schedule of events during the next two weeks. Please consider getting involved in this great competition for a great cause.

Sarah Russom Recognized For Displaying R.I.S.E. Core Values

Congratulations to Sarah Russom for being recognized by the track program for displaying the Howell R.I.S.E. core value of "Excellence." Sarah had the highest total mileage during the winter running program and has improved drastically since the cross country season. The Howell R.I.S.E. core values of respect, integrity, sportsmanship and excellence are recognized regularly in Howell programs to reinforce the values that help make our programs strong and that represent Howell in a positive way. Thank you to Sarah for living our R.I.S.E. core values!

Congratulations to Howell alum Lauren Beauchamp on winning the Missouri Valley Conference Pole Vault Championship. Lauren is currently a freshman at Northern Iowa. All Viking fans look forward to following her collegiate career over the course of the next four years.
