ALC Pre-Arrival Information!
Dear ALC Participants,
Very soon, Stanford University will become your "home away from home" for the remainder of the summer. The ALC staff team eagerly awaits your arrival and is working round-the-clock to put the final pieces of the itinerary in place. This newsletter contains important information and reminders that will help you make a smooth transition to California in the coming weeks.
As always, feel free to contact your Coordinator with any questions or concerns that you have about ALC or about your upcoming life in the Bay Area.
Best,
Yuki
Program Calendar
When you arrive on campus, you will learn more about the different activities available, and will be able to sign up for those that interest you! Explore the program schedules below!
Getting to Stanford
For those of you planning to ride VIA's shuttle to the Stanford campus, please gather near the center of the Arrivals floor, near the Cafe Emporio Rulli (outlined in yellow, below). You will find VIA staff members and student coordinators walking around to find you with VIA signs.
2. Free Shuttle Service
We will provide two free shuttle services on both July 30 (ALC 1) and Aug 6 (ALC 2). The first will depart at 1:30pm and the second will depart at 10:00pm.
If, for some reason, it's not possible for you to use the shuttle, please contact Yuki Ueda (yuki@viaprograms.org) and Melissa Golden (melissa@viaprograms.org).
3. Remember: You cannot enter the USA without your VISA/ESTA Documents!
For more information on these requirements, visit the Silicon Valley Program website.
4. What To Pack
Please limit your luggage to ONE suitcase and one other bag such as a backpack. Remember that if you bring it, you must carry it! Also, you will probably want to buy some souvenirs while you are here, so don’t forget to leave some space in your luggage for the return trip.
The suggested packing list, weather information, and other travel tips can be found on the Silicon Valley Program website.
5. In case of emergency
If you cannot find the VIA group at the airport or in case of emergency, please contact:
