Courtyard Lunch Assignments for the week of 4/18/2022

Principal's Message to Hornet Families for the week of 4/18/2022
Great evening fantastic families,
Early on in my career I was told the short weeks would be the most interesting and if you can recall from this week’s communications, this week was one for the books. If you did not receive the communications, please email linda.rivera@austinisd.org to update your contact information. We found resolutions to each event and maintained a safe environment for our scholars and staff. All threats are taken seriously and come with consequences when identified.
We've noticed a few changes in behavior since returning from the break and we want to assure everyone is aware that anyone misbehaving moving forward may lose the opportunity to participate in upcoming events including the Spring Fling. Any concerning behavior at the upcoming Spring Fling will result in immediate removal and a consequence the following week. We want the upcoming events to not only be fun but also safe for all. Safety is our number one priority.
This week we look forward to engaging lessons, tennis matches, track & field meet, and of course the Spring Fling. I also hope to see any parents able to attend at the Principal's Coffee Tuesday morning and offer a personal conversation to those who cannot. Please feel free to reach out to me via email and I will schedule a time to chat with you.
Thank you for choosing Kealing Middle School and Austin ISD, feel free to reach out to me directly for any reason at all: jerald.wilson@austinisd.org

Celebrate AISD Earth Week, April 18-22!
Austin ISD embraces sustainability not only as a way to help our planet but also as an educational tool to provide challenging and inspiring curriculum to our students. Earth Day is on April 22, and AISD will be celebrating the entire week of April 18-22! We encourage everyone to take a moment to think about how you can make the earth and our community a better place and perform an action to do so. Please visit the AISD Earth Week web page to find fun and meaningful ways to engage and take action from school and home.
On the web page you will find:
How to become a National Wildlife Federation Eco-School: Students, teachers, and staff can use the framework to make positive, lasting change in your school community and take steps towards your Green Flag certification!
Earth Day Bingo: Download the Earth Day Bingo Card, available in English and Spanish, to see how many eco-actions you can do from school, home, your backyard, and on a walk.
Earth Week Activities: Check out the activities and tips for families and students of all ages to take action in social & environmental justice, energy and water conservation, zero waste, air quality and nature. These activities can also be used to complete your Earth Day bingo card!
Want to celebrate all month? Check out the City of Austin’s Earth Month activity calendar.

This is a student event but parents will be needed to help make it happen. PTA will be looking for volunteers on and around the day of the event to help contribute snacks, set up, clean up, and chaperone. Watch for those sign-ups later in April.
One immediate need is to secure and finalize plans for lunch at the party. If you're connected with a local restaurant or caterer that could help provide a yummy spread, please contact Jen Loving (jen.loving@gmail.com).
Thank you!
