Salmon's Week 20 Update
January 30 - February 3rd
Overview
Writing: We are continuing our service project. Mrs. Barnett's and Mrs. Salmon's homerooms are running a Food Drive for the Gallatin Food Bank. The students wrote very convincing persuasive letter to Mr. Johnston to convince him that we should do this. Some of the students interviewed a member of the staff that works to bring the food bank services to our school. We researched how the the food bank helps our local community. Finally we designed and made poster, flyers, announcement scripts and called the local media to come and interview us. What great experience this project is providing for the students.
Science: Our unit on states of matter will wrap up and we will start on the the Solar System and the different planets. This unit will be quick and lead into the layers of our earth.
Social Studies: We will be wrapping up the Northeast and heading off to the Mid-West.
Bohart Field Trip - Friday February 3rd.
We will leave the school immediately after the bell rings, so please make sure your child arrives on time. Students can come to the classroom as early as 8:10. I recommend that students bring the following:
- lightweight backpack that won't slip off the shoulders easily
- snack
- sack lunch (Students will be extra hungry!)
- water bottle
- appropriate clothing (warm coat, hat, snow pants, gloves, warm socks)
- face mask or covering (The wind sometimes picks up and can be super cold.)
- sunglasses or ski goggles
- sunscreen (apply before school)
- no electronics on the bus please
Moving Day!!
I could use a little help on February 8th or 9th to label lockers (I have a label maker) and setting up bulletin boards. If you are able to help on either Thursday, February 8th or Friday, February 9th please send me an email. I thank you in advance for any help in this move.
