Influential
Orwell volunteered to fight in the Spanish Civil War for the Republicans where he was shot in the neck and had to flee for his life. During the World War II till 1940 Orwell wrote book reviews in the New English Weekly for a living. He also worked for the BBC Eastern Service.

George Orwell was an English novelist, essayist, and critic most famous for his novels Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four. His real name is Eric Arthur Blair But he adopted the pen name of George Orwell.
