TECHNOLOGY NEWS
Chromebook Policies
Recently, we have seen an increased number of students requiring Chromebook repairs. Below are a few important reminders and procedural adjustments:
Chromebooks must be kept in the district issued case at all times.
As stated in the district Mobile Device Guide, which was signed at the beginning of the year, any Chromebook not in a case will be collected immediately.
Any damage incurred while a Chromebook is not in the case cannot be covered by the district, and will, therefore, be the financial responsibility of the family.
Beginning January 4, anytime a Chromebook is seen not in the case, it will be taken from the student and placed in a secure location in the media center.
The Chromebook will be returned to the student as soon as they provide the district issued case. Students can claim their device in the media center.
Students will not be permitted to use a loaner during this time period. Teachers will be prepared to accommodate instruction during the transition time.
Loaner Chromebooks policies are as follows:
A student who has failed to charge their device or forgotten it at home may borrow a loaner from the media center one day (on a period by period basis) with only a warning.
Any additional days that a student borrows a loaner, the student will receive lunch detention to be served the next school day.
Students will not be permitted to charge devices in classrooms or borrow teacher Chromebooks (as stated in district policy).
It is certainly our hope that all students will abide by the policies set forth by the District Issued Mobile Device Guide and the Internet Acceptable Use Agreement, and therefore avoid any consequences. Thank you for your support in keeping these valuable tools secured and prepared for learning each day.
If you have any questions, please contact our Digital Integration Specialist, Kelly Thacker at kthacker@lexrich5.org.
