thank you parents
Last week in your child’s folder, you should have found a yellow slip of paper asking about where they will attend school in August. Please respond by no later than Friday, May 12th even if you know they will be attending Dodd for the 2017-2018 school year. If your address is incorrect, please contact Ms. Goldberg in the office.

Lost and Found
Our Lost & Found is overflowing! Please take a minute to come by the lost and found and look for any items that might be missing from your kids’ closets. Because of our busy schedule at the end of the year including awards, water day, and our 4th grade talent show, we will not have an opportunity to put these items out on the stage at the end of the school year like we’ve done in the past.
All items that are not claimed by Monday, May 22nd, will be donated.
Just a reminder that it’s a great idea to put student names on jackets, coats, and lunch boxes. Every Friday, our Lost and Found leadership team returns any items that have names in them to students. We also organize the lost and found, so that it’s easy to search. Our Lost & Found is located by the gym.

L.A.M.B at Smith Public LIbrary
The L.A.M.B. program allows kids to create their own original books that they write and illustrate, and is for grades 5 and under.
All of the books will be given a library bar code, a "Property Of" sticker, and will be available for checkout by library patrons. They can either pick up their books to keep at our reception (or at the library after the reception), or they can choose to donate their book to use for future use in the program.
The reception is a chance for the kids and their families to come and mingle and enjoy refreshments, and all of our "young authors" will also be set up at tables where they will be autographing bookmarks for their adoring fans.
There will be both a Tuesday and a Thursday reception this year, but parents MUST GO ONLINE AND REGISTER for one of the receptions. We will be turning people away at the door this year if they have not registered. It got a little overwhelming last year and we had nearly two dozen guests show up that we were not expecting.
Attendees and their guest must register for one of the dates online in order to attend the reception.
Up to four quests per author are welcome!
Registration opens on May 1st.
The end date will be Saturday May 13th.

Parent Requests for 2017-2018
In order to better organize class lists for next year, we will be having a request period. If you would like to request a teacher for the 2017-2018 school year, please fill out the form below. We do our very best to accommodate most of our requests, but there are some instances when this cannot happen. This form will close on Friday, May 5, 2017. No late requests will be accepted.

Wylie ISD 2017-18 Calendar Release
If you have not seen the updated calendar for next year, it is posted on the district website. There is a survey that you can give feedback regarding changes you would like to see.
For the most part, it is similar to this year's. Some changes that have occurred include:
- School will start August 21, the third Monday of August, opposed to the fourth Monday. The district applied for a waiver to do this.
- Christmas Break starts on a Thursday and ends on a Tuesday, making the break for staff 13 days, opposed to the typical 16 days.
- They added a teacher work day following Christmas Break.
- Spring Break is now aligned with Dallas County and Collin County community colleges. So it is now the 2nd week of March.
