Bobcat Bulletin
Week of November 2nd
From the Desk of Mrs. Schmid
Hello Bobcat Families,
Today marks the end of the 1st quarter! It's hard to believe November is here!
Thank you for your continuous patience and understanding as we shift and pivot during these unprecedented times. As a reminder, all in-person instruction has been paused, which includes our pilot in-person students. We thank our pilot families for their participation; it was a pleasure getting to see your students! We learned a great deal from this to implement into our hybrid instruction that would not have been possible without your participation.
As a result of the adaptive pause, we have shifted some of our plans:
- 1st and 5th grade will transition back to the remote learning schedule they followed prior to the pilots being implemented (where all students participate throughout the day).
- We will shift our alternate activities day to November 9th (instead of the original plan of November 2nd). See "Brookdale Bonanza" (below) for more details about this fun-filled day! All students will follow their normal schedule on Monday, November 2nd.
As a reminder, due to election day, we have no school on Tuesday, November 3rd.
Thank you to Beth Lynn Norton and all the Classroom Coordinators for their work in planning the Fall Party for our students this afternoon. I was able to pop into various rooms and saw many, many smiles and laughs! Boy, our students sure are creative with all their pumpkin decorating! Thank you for providing an alternate activity for our students to still celebrate all things fall!
If you celebrate Halloween, I wish you and your family a Happy Halloween! If you are looking for an alternate activity on Halloween, a group of Matea Valley students have partnered together for a cause to have a virtual alternate activity for our younger students. This is not a District 204 event but feel free to take a look if you are interested: Fit 4 a Cure Halloween.
Respectfully,
Keeley Schmid
Principal
New Bobcat Alert! Mr. Goran Mikic
November 9th: Brookdale Bonanza
Prior to the adaptive pause to our hybrid instruction, we had planned for students to participate in alternate activities on November 2nd. Due to the pause, we have moved it closer to the implementation of hybrid instruction on November 9th.
As a sneak peak...one of the activities will be an activity Bobcats have done before: decorating a star in honor of a veteran or thanking a veteran! They will be able to complete a Flipgrid presenting his/her star. More information will be shared as we get closer to our fun day! Thank you to Mrs. Ouellette, our 4th grade teacher, for her leadership on this project!
Hybrid Instruction
If you chose in-person learning for the hybrid instruction, we are waiting on a date from the district on when group assignments will be shared. When that date is determined, instructions will be sent to assist with how to find your child's group assignment.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Starting next Tuesday, November 3, parents will have the opportunity to schedule parent/teacher conferences for November 19 and November 23. Due to COVID-19, parent/teacher conferences will take place via Zoom this fall.
Parents can begin scheduling conferences on November 3 through ParentVUE at the times listed below. Please note, if you have children in more than one level, you will need to wait until the assigned level opens before scheduling conferences for your younger children.
- High school scheduling begins at 8 am
- Middle school scheduling begins at 10 am
- Elementary school scheduling begins 12 pm
To schedule your conference, log in to ParentVUE at the designated grade level time and select “Conference” from the menu on the left side to see the times available. Once you have scheduled your conference, you can click “Email Schedule” to have the details emailed to you. You can also go back to ParentVUE at any time to view the information. Conference scheduling will remain open through November 16.
Watch this short video to see a step-by-step guide for scheduling your conference.
Report Cards
Quarter One report cards will be available in ParentVUE on November 13th, after 4:00pm.
Instructions for parents are available on the district website www.ipsd.org If you have questions about your child’s report card, please contact the classroom teacher.
We look forward to seeing you at Parent/Teacher Conferences November 19th or 23rd.
Materials Pick-Up
We have grade levels who have organized materials pick-up for this week and next! The pick-up items will be available at the front of the school (door 1) from 8-4:00pm on your child's designated day.
