With Children in Mind
Every child is unique and has a different way of learning. I have listed 3 goals that will allow me to assist children to develop socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually.
Social and Emotional Learning
Social and emotional learning is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Social and emotional skills are critical to being a good student, citizen and worker. I will teach self awareness, self management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making throughout classroom lessons in order to help develop a well-rounded child.
Like adults children need to give the brain a break and chance to relax. In my classroom I will promote and practice mindfulness techniques daily. Children will be allowed to stop and breath deeply in order to relax and calm themselves, we will take walks and open windows just to listen to nature, we will talk about and laugh about our lives and activities outside of the classroom and we will journal about what we are grateful for.
Art comes in many different forms, we are all artistic in our own way you don't have to be famous with a big title to be artistic you just have to be passionate about what you do and create. As an educator my students' will be given every opportunity to be creative and expressive. They will be encouraged to think freely, experiment and analyze their work. I will be the facilitator while my students' will be the artist.
