Student Election Workers For Dallas County
Good Afternoon,
Dallas County Elections Department (DCED) have a couple elections that are coming up that students can participate in. the first upcoming election is the May 5th Joint Election for cities and schools. Since this election is on a Saturday students will not require principal’s signature. The applications are due Friday April 6, 2018. Students will need parent’s signature if they are under the age of 18. The training classes for the upcoming May5th election are:
· Saturday April 21st 10:00am-1:00pm.
· Wednesday April 25th 6:30pm-9:30pm.
The May 22nd and June 16th Elections will not have training classes. These elections will only be available to students that have been to training before. They will not be available for first time students. Applications for the May 22nd and June 16th elections will only available at the April training classes.
** We can extend the April 6th deadline for Students that are interested to Friday April 13th. If they are unable to send the application in on deadline specified on the application. **
Students will receive community service hours or compensation of their choice. The Student Election Worker Program is making bold strides and expanding thanks to your help. We are the leading county in Texas that implements students in our polling locations. We are looking to remain on top and to be a trendsetter and set the standards for other counties. We know we can accomplish this with your help.

Volunteer Opportunity: Science Fair Evaluators Need at Valley Ranch **Form Updated To Allow Editing
One of the Valley Ranch teachers reached out to us for volunteers to evaluate their first ever Science Fair. Here is the information:
- Be at VRE at 4:30 on April 16, at which time you will be given a brief orientation
- From 5-6 you will be asked to evaluate projects created by 3-5 graders (evaluators will be provided an evaluation form)

Volunteer To Help Reduce Food Scarcity
Good afternoon!
We are Grace Hewlett and Matthew Plawecki, and we need volunteers for a service project. We are currently working on a project for the AP with WE Service program (AP Human Geography in this case) that will help to fight food insecurity.
Volunteers will distribute out plastic bags to houses on assigned routes on April 21st. Flyers on the bags would request residents to fill the bags with canned goods. On April 28th, volunteers will pick up the plastic bags and return them to a drop-off location. You may sign up for either day, or you could sign up for both. This is a great opportunity to earn some last minute service hours!

CREATEatUT - Cockrell School of Engineering The Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin offers nationally top ranked undergraduate and graduate degrees in aerospace, architectural, biomedical chemical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, geosystems, mechanical, and petroleum engineering.
CREATEatUT participants will be housed on campus. CREATEatUT participants will be selected based on their completed applications. There is a non-refundable registration fee for participants. The registration fee is $300 per participant. This fee includes housing, meals, and programming for the entire program. There is a scholarship application within the regular application.

Teen Leadership Coppell Applications
NTC (Networking Team Captain) Application Information
Good afternoon!
Below is information about NTC applications for next year. Please see myself, Mr. Granado or Alishah Ahmed if you have any questions.
The learners in NTC are an integral part of the NTH@C culture and strive to ensure a strong “family feel” within our school. NTC’s plan normal Networking Wednesdays as well as Wonderful Wednesdays. We encourage all interested learners on this campus to apply and be a part of this organization!
Here is the link to the application.
Complete applications are due on Thursday, April 19th by 4:05pm. No extensions or exceptions.
1. Attend one informational meeting on Wednesday, April 4th. It will be a Flex Day so please make sure to sign up for one 30 minute block to attend the informational meeting. This will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the application.
2. Complete and turn in the Planning Activity to Mr. Granado (will be explained at the informational meeting).
3. Print and give one of your current NTH@C facilitators the attached Facilitator Recommendation Form. (The facilitator will be returning this form directly to Mr. Granado's box, NOT to you)
4. Complete and submit the NTC Application online.
5. You may sign up for an interview on Mr. Granado's door AFTER you have completed and submitted the full application.
Interviews will be after April 25th. Watch for an email with details.

Summer and Fall Dual Credit Information
Please read the following information carefully if you intend to register for Dual Credit courses this Summer or next Fall.
Attached is the Dual Credit packet. You can go HERE to search the courses that will be available.
Dual credit registration for the Spring semester will begin soon. Below are important dates:
- Priority Registration (current students) - April 17, 2018
- Regular Registration (new students) - April 23, 2018
- Classes Begin
- Summer 1 - 6/5/2018
- Summer 2 - 7/10/2018
- Fall 2018 - 8/27/2018
If you have never taken a dual credit course before, then you will need to:
- Apply to DCCCD
- Create an eConnect Account
- Take the TSI (unless exempt)
- Exemption Criteria
- ACT Aspire - 435 English, 431 Math
- ACT - 23 Composite with minimum of 19 in English and/or Math
- SAT - 480 on EBRW and/or 530 on Math

- Go to Northlake to get referral from dual credit advisor
- North Campus Tue and Wed 8:30-5:30
- Central Campus Mon-Thu 8:30-4:30 or Fri 8:30-2:00

**Do not sign up for a course that will not fit in your NTH@C schedule. You are not allowed to show up late or leave early from a class for dual credit.**
Please remember to send an official transcript to New Tech at the end of each semester for which you take classes. We need these transcripts to add your courses to your high school transcript.

Coppell Education Foundation Run To Fund
The Coppell Education Foundation is hosting the annual Run to Fund on Saturday, May 5th. The race will be a 1-Mile Fun Run and a Timed 5K and will be held at a new location – Andy Brown East. Our goal is for this run to be a family-friendly event with participation from all of our CISD schools.
The link to register can be found on the Coppell Education Foundation website www.coppellisdef.com/run-to-fund. Encourage everyone to register now, because prices go up on April 1st.
The Coppell Education Foundation is donating $2 from every race entry to the Physical Education Departments of all CISD campuses including both high school campuses and Victory Place. Each registrant has the opportunity on their online registration form to indicate which school will receive the $2 contribution. This is where you can increase money for your PE department by encouraging your students and staff to register for the race and select your school.
Bonus Money: In addition to the $2 per race entry donation, we will also have bonus weeks and overall bonuses. For the bonus weeks, feel free to suggest a challenge. Only requirement is that every campus can participate. We’ll put up $50 per challenge (up to 3). An overall bonus of $100 will go to one elementary and one secondary campus. The overall bonus winners will be determined based on the number of total entries for that campus vs their enrollment.
NOTE: We have added additional age categories to the 5K so there are more opportunities to medal than previous years. Age groups for students are: ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 & 17-19. Please encourage your youngest runners to participate in the timed 5K.
Entertainment: In previous years, we have had school groups perform (I believe Austin’s marimba group has performed in the past) . If your campus has a group that would be interested, please let me know.
All race registrations must be made online. There is a discounted price for CISD students and staff for the 5K. The CISD student & staff price for the 1 Mile Fun Run is $20 and the 5K is $25 for early registration through March 31. Prices will increase as race day draws closer.
