Monday Musings
Thoughts from your Head Teacher ...
Last week of this half term...REALLY????
Where on earth has this half term gone? In fact.. the whole school year! We have one half term left and the next half term is always pretty great! Let's hope the weather sorts its self out and we start to be able to enjoy the sun shining.
Barbara Isaacs visiting The Meadows
We are delighted that Barbara Isaacs will be with us on Wednesday this week. Barbara is the Academic Director for MCI and a Senior Accreditation Officer for MEAB (Montessori Accreditation and Evaluation Board). This will be first time she has visited our school and I am very excited to be able to show her our Montessori environment and for her to meet children and staff.
Friday this week
Children do not need their packed lunches on Friday this week. Please can they all bring £3 to contribute to the cost of our whole school meal which we are all going to be cooking on Friday morning. Vegetables and dips, hot dogs and vegetable kebabs cooked on the firebowl and rhubarb crumble and ice-cream (rhubarb from our allotment). Sharing lunch together, that we have all prepared and cooked, is always such a great community thing to do. Apart from sunfast and water, the children will not need anything else with them on Friday.
NOTE - this is not for the Fireflies who are sailing - they still need their lunch and drinks as they did last week x
Open Assembly - 3pm - Castle Hill United Reformed Church
I would like to invite all parents to our end of half term open assembly on Friday this week. As normal we will be at the Castle Hill Church. We will walk from school at 2.30pm and see you all for a prompt start at 3pm. All children will be reciting some poetry, in their class groups. This is to finish up the end of this half terms English Poetry Theme. We will be finishing in a slightly different way this half term - see below!
Stage Curtains and a Cake Sale!
For the last 2 years we have 'made do' with the stage curtains we found in the loft when we bought the school building. However, they do not fit and are not very thick. So.. I have had a quote for new curtains for the front of the stage and the back of the stage. Meadows in Action have agreed to fund part of the cost, and school will fund the rest - but we could do with a little help! Therefore, we are planning a cake sale at the end of our assembly on Friday this week. Please if you can, can you bring cakes in on either Thursday or Friday to add to the sale, and staff will bring some too - and then we can sell them to everyone who comes to the assembly on Friday. Hopefully this will add a little towards the cost of the curtains. We would really appreciate your support - Thank you in advance!
Parents Satisfaction Questionnaire - Survey Monkey
Last shout for our questionnaire. Thank you to everyone who has already completed it. If you would like to give more information or feedback on any of your answers, then please feel free to write it down and put it in an envelope marked for my attention, on Jo's desk. This can be anonymous still if you would prefer. If you have not completed it yet, it will be open until Wednesday. Thanks again.
Thursday afternoon!
I will be sharing with the children their parts for the musical on Thursday afternoon this week. This is an adaptation of Alice in Wonderland - so some of the traditional parts are not in there and there are some new parts! On return to school after half term, I will give out the script so that they can start learning their words and also the CD's with the songs on. Heads up for Thursdays for the next half term - ALL children are expected to stay for choir on a Thursday just for this half term - this is so that we can all learn the songs together. It is so important that they stay and are familiar with the songs before the musical week. Thank you.
