It's a Great Day to be at JSE!
Good evening, JSE Families,
We are well on our way to reaching our READING goals! Ask your child about their teacher's silly picture to encourage and motivate! Students visit the library weekly to check-out books within their reading level to take quizzes and earn points towards their goal. Students in grade 2-5 have AR goals and students in K-1 have goals tailored to challenge their reading skill development. Thank you for all you do at home to reinforce daily reading time. Read for 20 or MORE!
We are excited to announce that we are building 4th and 5th grade leaders through several "It's the leadership hallway" initiatives. One of them being the opportunity to participate in the Challenge Ed program. Our 4th/5th graders work with their teachers and Mr. Dan Massa in activities, conversations, and leadership skill building opportunities. Each week students are asked to focus on something - how they make a difference, how they make other's lives better, etc. The experiences help students to find leadership skills and potential within and encourage students to use those skills. The fun games and activities require them to work as a team! We feel fortunate to host this program at JSE!
We will see you next Monday for conferences! Our goal is to have 100% teacher parent contact. Thank you for taking the time to meet with your child's teacher regarding their academic and social development! We look forward to discussing your child's learning achievements and how we can partner to continue challenging their growth! Information regarding your child's conference will come home today. If you have any questions or concerns with your date and time please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
Please see the Conference/eLearning Day information below.
Thank you for being our partners in education,
Mrs. Barnes
A wonderful message for all elementary aged parents:
October 7th eLearning and Parent-Teacher Conferences Information
Next Monday, October 7th, we will be having this year’s parent/teacher conferences and on this day your child will participate in an eLearning day through Canvas from home. If you have not already done so please let your teacher know when you are available for conferences. We look forward to meeting with each of you! In regards to the eLearning Day and possible future eLearning days, your child's teacher will communicate their expectations, assignments, and activities for each subject with you through email and your child's Canvas inbox by 9am. Your child's teacher will only be available via e-mail and Canvas messaging. Please contact your child's teacher on eLearning days for support. eLearning days are considered schools days, so school work will need to be completed for a grade, as well as for attendance. The expectation is for each student to access their Canvas Account and complete the work assigned on the eLearning Day. Students will have two additional school days beyond the actual eLearning day to complete their work.
Students are currently using Canvas for a mock eLearning session at school and for homework, this will help prepare us for a successful first eLearning day of the school year! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns in accessing Canvas or completing Canvas assignments at home.
Frequently asked questions and answers can be found on our website with specific instructions to support Canvas online access at home: http://jsimatovich.union.k12.in.us/
