Boots & Bow Ties
Shout Out! to the Wilson Education Partnership (WEP) for its Boots & Bow Ties fundraiser! The funds that were raised will go back into our schools for teacher support initiatives and college/career readiness programs for our students. At the event, the food was prepared by students in the culinary programs at Beddingfield and Fike HS (great coverage in The Wilson Times!), and the musical entertainment was provided by Street Revival, which includes two members with WCS ties - Caroline, a Toisnot MS seventh-grader, and Fike HS Teacher Jay Wheeler. We are grateful to WEP Executive Director Robin Williams, the planning committee (Ryan Simons, Amanda Metts, Wray Boyette, Debra Mercer, Samantha Nelms, JoAnn Poythress, Leigh Anne Orr, Robin Johnson, Sandy Putman, Amy Stadiem, Beth Rhyne, Kathleen Gibson, Lara Howe, Laura Harris and Kim Schmidt), the leading business sponsors Hilton's, Chuck Finklea-State Farm and Schmdt Law and all of the business sponsors for their incredible support!

Well Mannered
"I was on the 2nd grade New Hope ES field trip to Sylvan Heights Bird Park recently with my son. I also teach 5th grade at New Hope. I saw a group of students from Vick ES waiting in a long line ahead of us to feed the birds. They were the most well behaved and well mannered students there! I just wanted to give them and their teachers a Shout Out! They did a wonderful job representing Vick and WCS!" - From Anne Blackmon
Walthall Retires
Shout Out! to Executive Director of Certified Personnel Rick Walthall on his retirement! Mr. Walthall has been a member of our Human Resources Department for 17 years. A reception was held for him on April 17, and employees and retirees from all different positions attended to wish him well. Everyone spoke of Mr. Walthall's integrity, professionalism and heart for children. He will be missed, and we wish him all the best!
Hunt Grads Win
At the Meredith College Academic and Leadership Awards Ceremony on April 11, three of the four Service and Dedication Award Winners were Hunt HS graduates!
