A Thoughtful Classroom Update
Living and Learning in Third Grade
Nightly Homework
Just a reminder that each night students need to be making time for reading and math fact fluency! Reading can be enjoyed independently or as a partnership! Make sure your child marks the minutes on their 300 minute reading calendar! Math fact fluency needs to be FAST and FURIOUS!! Time your child for 2 minutes to help them move at a fluent pace!
Students have log-ins for Typing Club. This can be practiced at night, as well! It is NOT a requirement, but a fun alternative to playing video games!! We do practice our typing skills 4 days a week during writer's workshop! This practice will help prepare students for the rigor of typing during the PARRC assessment that they take in the spring!
Young Author's writing is another current option for homework. The dates have been moved up for the 2016-2017 school year. All writing pieces must be turned into the classroom teachers by December 9, 2016.
