Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBiS) at Hillside

Positive Behavior Intervention and Support is ongoing at our school. We have a school-wide program to address the behavioral needs of all of our students and to support positive behavior throughout our school. We love to recognize students who do the "right thing" and find ways to create good feelings about great behavior.

April Highlight:

Recognizing appropriate behavior:

Students who are demonstrating appropriate behavior receive verbal praise, ("Thanks for doing that right away," "Nice job walking in the hallway") and, at times, a Tiger Ticket to turn in to a drawing for prizes or privileges. We are committed to letting students know we appreciate their hard work. A great majority of our students know our school rules (Be respectful, Be responsible, Be safe) and abide by them each and every day.

PBiS Skill of the Week

The skill for the week of 4/12/21 - 4/16/21 is Showing Respect. When you do this well, you:

  • Obey a request to stop a negative behavior
  • Do not tease, threaten, or make fun of others
  • Allow others to have their privacy
  • Get permission before using another person's property
  • Do not damage or vandalize public property
  • Do not persuade others to break rules
  • Avoid acting obnoxiously in public
  • Dress appropriately in public

Our school works on different skills weekly; students can practice this every day!
