Campus Identification & Lanyards
As a matter of school safety, all staff, students, and visitors need to display identification during the school day. Just as driver’s license authorizes driving a vehicle, a student ID card authorizes a student to be on campus. Every student must wear their ID cards during the school day. Identification of adults and students on campus is a safety issue and will not be compromised.
The school is conducting periodic ID “checks” during the school day to check for compliance. Most students are doing great with the new procedures! Students who do not have an ID are required to check out a temporary ID. IDs/lanyards are needed to enter the media center, obtain a hall pass, scan for lunch, purchase dance tickets, and more. Here are some procedures to help support campus safety and the responsible use of ID/lanyards:
- For forgotten IDs, students will report to student services where they will be issued a temporary ID for that day. This ID must be returned at the end of the day.
- Students who do not return the temporary ID/lanyard will be responsible to replace the temporary ID/lanyard. The cost is $3 per ID and $2 per lanyard.
- For lost or damaged IDs, students will report to the Media center during periods 3-7 to print a new ID for which the student will be charged $3 per ID and $2 per lanyard.
PSAT and ASVAB Testing
The PSAT will be given on Oct. 16 at LPHS to 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. The PSAT is a comprehensive assessment that measures necessary skills and knowledge for college and career readiness and success. The PSAT 8/9 and PSAT 10 use the same scale score which allows students to see how they are doing compared to college and career readiness benchmarks and the SAT.
The ASVAB will be given at LPHS on Oct. 10, 2019. The ASVAB is offered as an option for students to meet the new graduation pathways (box 3). It is a multiple-aptitude battery, broken into eight to ten sub-tests, that measure developed abilities and help predict future academic and occupational success in the military. Junior or senior students who have not passed the ISTEP may possibly benefit from the ASVAB for their graduation plan and are strongly encouraged to talk to their counselor about the ASVAB.

Junior & Senior Counselor Meetings
LPHS Counselors will begin the process of calling students down to the counseling office to conduct Junior or Senior Meetings starting on September 12th. This process will take place for the duration of first semester. During each individual meeting, your student's counselor will review the following information:
- Current transcript
- Individualized Post-secondary Plan Information
- Graduation Requirements
- Graduation Pathways (if applicable)
To help prepare for this meeting, students should fill out a brief questionnaire in order to ensure that the counselors have the proper materials ready to tailor to each student's future plan(s).
In addition, students should begin reviewing the information listed in their cohort SRT Cohort Canvas page under "Counseling." so that they may bring any questions they have in regards to the information with them to their meeting. Information is divided up into 2 sections:
- Heading to a Career?
- Looking at Colleges?
The questionnaire is listed in the Counseling section of their SRT Cohort Canvas page under "Junior Meeting" or "Senior Meeting", respectively.
