Peachjar -Digital Flyer Delivery System
In an effort to provide increased access to programs and resources that improve the trajectory of our students' lives, the School District of Lodi launched Peachjar on January 25, 2023. This new platform will enable us to send important school and community flyers to parents and guardians digitally.
School-approved digital flyers will be sent to your email inbox where you can easily click to sign up for events and programs. No more digging through backpacks to find a lost flyer. Additionally, you will be able to access flyers right from the homepage of your child(s) school using the Peachjar button.
You should have received a welcome email from Peachjar. No action is required to begin receiving this communication from your school. Look for emails with the subject line of "School Announcement and Opportunities for your Child."
To ensure you don't miss notifications, we suggest you add school@peachjar.com to your email contacts and click "always display images" when you receive your first email.
Peachjar is used exclusively for the distribution of school and district-approved flyers only. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to ensure parents and guardians are well informed about school programs, activities, and events!

It would be appreciated if you would include what symptoms your child is experiencing when you report an absence so the office knows if they need to follow up with you or not.

Nurse Notes
Thank you parents/guardians for doing a great job on keeping your children home when they are sick and updating us about their illness. This helps to stop the spread of illnesses which have been down since returning from winter break. With that said, we must continue to stay diligent on the following bullet points below.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds.
Avoid touching your nose, eyes, and mouth.
Stay home and away from others if you feel sick.
Avoid being around others who are sick or have flu symptoms.
Cover your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze and encourage children to do the same.

Vision Screens:
LES/OSC is gearing up to conduct 3rd and 5th grade vision screens on Tuesday, February 7th and Wednesday, February 8th. The purpose of the screenings is to identify any potential vision problems. Vision screening will consist of using a standard Sloan letter acuity chart that helps to examine distance visual acuity-ability to see objects far away and binocular vision to see how well your child’s eyes work together.
If your child wears corrective lenses, they should have their glasses for the eye exam. If your child struggles and is unable to read the critical line of 20/32 then I will email you a referral for further evaluation by your physician or eye care specialist.
If you do NOT wish your child not to participate in the vision screening, please email sivamja@lodischoolswi.org,
Frostbite - Dress for Winter
With colder temperatures, we want to remind you the importance of children bringing all their winter gear to be able to play outside and have fun. Please make sure your children have their winter coat, gloves, hat, winter books, and snowpants. If skin is not covered appropriately then with colder temperature they can be at risk of frostbite. Frostbite is an injury caused by freezing of the skin and underlying tissues. In the earliest stage of frostbite, known as frostnip, there is no permanent damage to skin. Symptoms include cold skin and a prickling feeling, followed by numbness and inflamed or discolored skin. As frostbite worsens, skin may become hard or waxy-looking.You can treat frostnip by rewarming. All other frostbite requires medical attention because it can permanently damage skin, muscle, bone and other tissue.
Please help your child dress appropriately for changing weather. We've had some cold weather lately, so dressing in layers is helpful. Remember to label items with your child's name.
Medications Reminder
Due to safety concerns students in the elementary school cannot carry any medication prescribed or over the counter at school. Any medication that is found will be locked in the office until an adult can pick up the medication.
If a student needs to take medication during school hours, per state law, there are guidelines that must be followed before this can occur. Medication administration in schools is governed by Wis. Stat. sec. 118.29.
Prescription medications: Required MD and parent signatures and must be kept in the office.
Over the counter medications can be given with only a parent signature as long as they are within the therapeutic dose range for the age and weight of your child. Lowest effective dose is preferred.
Thank you all for your cooperation in this matter and keeping all students safe.
Please reach out if you any questions or concerns on this or any topic related to your child's health.

OSC Music News
First, I would like to again let the OSC Musicians know how proud I was of their performance at the Winter Concert. Not only did each one of you sing an incredible performance, you looked and presented yourselves as dedicated musicians. Job well done!!
We will be starting the recorders soon. I know how much the families are looking forward to having their own performances at home. It is important to find a place for your musician to practice for them and you. As soon as the recorders arrive, we will begin.
Lastly, a reminder of the OSC Musical on Friday May 5th. The performance will be in the evening (at 7pm). More information to follow.
Musically,
Mrs. Weber
Message from Ms. Good
In January:
We listened to and looked at Caldecott winning books and learned that the Caldecott medal is given for the illustrations. This year’s winner will be announced on January 30th, and we can’t wait to see which book wins!
We read Goodnight Moon and then a book called Goodnight Lodi, by Christina Colucci, which was donated to us from a family, and we loved it because it showed things in Lodi, like the ferry, the bakery, and Spring Creek! (I purchased ours on the Barnes and Noble website.)
We started the Polar Bear Book Club. To meet this challenge, the students have to read, or be read, 10 award-winning books (any award/honor is fine), record them on their sheet, sign it and have a parent sign it, and turn it in to the library. We will be taking their picture and hanging it up.
We did another Digital Citizenship lesson. 3rd grade learned about the importance of good passwords and how to make one, and 4th and 5th learned about how we leave digital “tracks” online that may be accessible forever.
Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions at goodamy@lodischoolswi.org.
Happy reading,
Ms. Good

Caught Being Kind
The students pictured below were recognized for acts of kindness they did. These acts are above and beyond our expectations of being responsible, respectful, and safe. We know that there are numerous acts of kindness our students do that we don't always see and appreciate those as well.

I am proud of the way staff and students embrace the opportunities
we create at LES/OSC to connect and learn.
I am so proud of the work students and staff do daily!
