Toothpick Bridges
Ms. O'Donnell's eighth grade STEM students at Memorial Middle School worked hard to design and create their toothpick bridges, using only wood glue and toothpicks. Ms. O'Donnell was amazed at their patience during the glue-drying time and impressed with their final prototypes.

Force And Motion
Ms. Altomare's third grade class at Beatrice Gilmore School has been learning about force and motion in science. The class experimented with different bridge designs to see what style would be the strongest. They were only allowed to use two pieces of paper and scissors. The bridge's strength was determined by how many pennies would stay on the bridge before collapsing.

Character Creations
Charles Olbon School second grade classes did a wonderful job on their book character pumpkin projects. Students decorated a pumpkin as a character from a book they read and presented their projects to the class by describing their character’s traits and events in the story. Shown are students in Mrs. Healey's class.

Hot Cocoa Crafting
Students in Ms. Tobia and Ms. Bonnie's PreK-3 class at School 1 made "hot chocolate" in the dramatic play center on a cold fall day. Students follow multi-step instructions to serve hot chocolate to their friends. Students take an order from a classmate and count marshmallows and peppermint sticks to serve the most delicious hot chocolate.
