Iowa Assessments
Students have been working so hard over the past few days! We only have two days left, so let's make them count! Please continue to get your child here early with a hearty and healthy breakfast and a good night's sleep! It really makes a huge difference for them. Also please continue to give your child a morning and afternoon snack to bring to school. Our schedule is different during testing and I want to make sure they don't get hungry during the day.
The remaining test portions are as follows:
- Monday, April 27: Social Studies, Vocabulary, Word Analysis (This will probably be our longest day of testing, so please make sure they get to bed at a good time on Sunday night!)
- Tuesday, April 28: Science, Computation

Don't forget to RSVP for Donuts with Dad!
This Wednesday, April 29 from 8-8:30 AM we will be hosting our first grade Donuts with Dad. Students have been working on some fun gifts for you and look forward to sitting with you to have a nice breakfast with some fun activities!
Please let me know whether or not you will be there by emailing me at mwhitlock@fultonscienceacademy.org. I need this information by Monday, April 27 so Mrs. Houston and I can have enough food for the group!

A Peek at Next Week...
Because of our testing schedule, our language arts spelling tests are on a bit of a funny schedule. Here's what you need to know and when you need to know it:
- Spelling Words for Test on Wednesday, April 29: saw, draw, crawl, straw, law, jaw, paw, yawn, hawk, lawn, built, early, learn, science, through
- Spelling Words for Test on Wednesday, May 6: unhappy, refill, untie, undo, repay, unkind, undress, retell, reopen, rewind, answered, carry, different, poor
Next week we will be reviewing aw/au sounds, suffixes, digraphs, and diphthongs. We will also be learning the prefixes un- and re- and will look at prepositions and prepositional phrases.
We will also be able to spend some time working on some fun science experiments to tie what we've learned this year all together!
**For next week's homework, students will be working on creating an autobiography of their life. I will provide a packet with places for students to organize their thoughts and write out a final draft.
