Week of May 20 - May 24th
Growing into our Greatness...Not a Moment to Waste!
Welcome Back!
After a fun filled, relaxing two weeks, we know you are ready for the most exciting time of the year. End of year activities will be exciting yet exhausting. There are about four weeks left. We will need everyone to push through and support each other. Instruction still goes on in earnest as well. We don’t want to lose anytime with scholars even though testing is over.
Administration is already planning for next year. You will be asked to complete surveys and discussions to assist us with the planning. Some of you will participate in summer meetings to develop plans and programs for next year. For the balance of this year, each of you will meet with myself, Ms. Tyler, Ms Martinez or Mrs. Aviles individually to discuss your goals and aspirations for GLA and your professional growth. Mrs. Greene will schedule your meetings with you.
Thank you for all you do for GLA. See you Monday!

Teaching and Learning Corner
iReady: Over intercession the iReady usage numbers stayed at the average level as a regular school week. Kudos on pushing families to complete usage during their time off. Our goal between benchmark 3 and 4 is to see growth. Last year, it was the lowest growth of the year. We are on track for change this year! Keep up the good work.
Passion Projects: As you begin the passion projects for the end of year, remember the following stages: brainstorm, question, research, create, and share. Each part should be aligned to standards, include a mini-lesson, and have an assessment component. We are excited to see the fruits of your planning labors!
Instructional Look For: In light of passion projects, we will be observing and giving feedback around student agency. Consider the following components when planning for your lessons.
Scholars have many choices in their learning process (e.g., what they learn, when they learn, where they learn, how they learn (mode), how they demonstrate knowledge), have sufficiently high-quality information and skills to make decisions, and most or all scholars make quality decisions aligned to their learning needs and/or goals.
Upcoming PD:
- 5/22: Close out for the school year
- 6/5: Asthma Training Surveys
