Message from the Principal
It was a fun week!
This was such a fun and busy week! Second grade had a great time at the zoo while Fourth Grade experienced life on the prairie at Conner Prairie! The weather was beautiful for both days, although a little colder today! Seeing them apply what they saw and learned to future lessons is so enriching for the students.
With the cold weather today, it is a good reminder to check the weather daily. Our playground can get a bit windy and it is good idea to send a jacket with your child every day. There may be a few warm days next week but it will turn cold again and students will be outside for PE and recess.

Parent Teacher Conferences - October 14
By now, conferences should be scheduled with your child's teacher. If you do not have a scheduled time and would like to meet, please contact your child's teacher. It can be so challenging to cover everything in 15 - 20 minutes. As we have many families scheduled, please be on time and understand that if more time is needed, you may need to schedule another time after break to meet with the teacher. Working together as a team is the best way to help all of our students be successful at school! Thank you for taking the time to meet.
Fundraisers
United Way Walk a Mile Legacy
Mac El and Pipe Creek will be participating in the United Way Walk a Mile Legacy on October 26. Students will walk with their classes and grade levels during the afternoon. The money raised will be to help United Way Support Early Childhood Education. Forms were sent home this week. Students should collect money and keep it in a Ziploc bag or envelope and then return it to the school by the due date on the form. We hope this will be a fun experience for our students as they get to walk together and raise money for a good cause.
Boo Grams
Student council will be doing Boo Grams for October. Forms will go home next week and will be delivered Oct. 31st.
Donut Day
Fourth grade will be sponsoring a Donut Fundraiser. Look for the information sheet next week!

Guidance Update
This week and next, students are learning how to deal with "Stinking Thinking" as well as relaxing through guided meditation. Students were given Positive Thoughts and Affirmation sheets to identify positive thoughts to help them get through their day. Guided meditation involved deep breathing techniques while listening to a short story to visualize traveling to their happy place via a balloon.

PTO EVENTS AND INFORMATION
Parent Involvement
PTO provides a great opportunity to be involved in your child's school planning and volunteering for events for students and staff. We recently sponsored the Scholastic Book Fair and as a result, were able to donate books to our library and classrooms for students. We are currently planning events and fundraisers. If you are interested in getting involved, please email macelpto@maconaquah.k12.in.us for more information. The more volunteers we have, the more events we can plan.

BRAVES OF THE WEEK
2nd Grade: Spencer Harner
Spencer is a fun outgoing boy! Every morning he sings along to the song in our morning announcements. He must know the words to every song! Spencer works hard and completes all of his assignments. He is also helpful to his classmates and is kind to everyone. We love having Spencer in our class.
3rd Grade: Jordyn Yard
Jordyn is new to Maconaquah and has done an amazing job jumping into a new environment. Jordyn is a joy to have in class. She is a hard worker and always goes above and beyond when completing her assignments. She participates both in small group and whole group activities and asks questions when she doesn't understand. Welcome to Maconaquah Jordyn, we are glad you are here!!
4th Grade: Sawyer Beitz
Sawyer is a wonderful student. She is patient, kind, and very polite. I have been impressed with her each week in music. She is one of the members of the Brave Generation. She participates wholeheartedly and is always showing a positive attitude. I am very proud of Sawyer. Congratulations!
5th Grade: Ashley Cornelio
Ashley is a model student. She comes to school each day ready to do her best. She loves to read and is a fantastic artist. She is currently working with a friend to bring these two loves together to write a book. I cannot wait to see the finished product, because the sample illustrations I have seen are fantastic. I know someday I will be able to say that I had her when she was in 5th grade before anyone else knew her name. I am thrilled to have her in class and to get t know her. She is a student that follows all the BRAVE expectations in our building!
