Animal Mash-Up - Season 5: Episode 2
This challenge focuses on students creating their own unique animal from the characteristics of other animals in an animal mash-up. In this episode, we feature 4th & 5th grade students from Solon Intermediate School. Students not only made their own animals, but they also brought them to life through coding by using the Hummingbird Robotics to add a motor and light to their creations. A big thanks to Solon Intermediate for allowing us to share this maker story!
We would love to see what you make! Join our Maker Community by sending us your photos or videos through social media by adding #havefunmaking and @dlgwaea to your post. We will add them to our online Maker Community Wakelets that can be viewed at www.dlgwaea.org.
Check Out
Hummingbird Robotics Teaching Portal! There are so many great lessons and ideas for implementing robotics in every subject area.
At Grant Wood, we recently ran our first Workshop featuring the Hummingbird Bit. We plan to run another one in the spring, keep an eye out for when it gets approved on our Professional Learning Slide deck found on our website. Check out this slide deck to get registered for our fall classes. We hope you enjoy the show & #HaveFunMaking!

As with any new skill, students need to observe teachers modeling how to research...continue reading
