Just 1 more week until school starts, yippee!
Check those mailboxes because post cards with teacher assignments have been mailed out!
If you have a kindergarten student, on the postcard you will also see your child's designated staggered enrollment day. School for kindergarten students on their staggered day will begin at 9 am. That way you can avoid the morning drop off line:) All kindergarten students will begin coming to school daily at 8 am beginning September 1st. For all other students, grades 1-5 school begins at 8 am and the tardy bell rings at 8:20. If your child is eating breakfast, they will need to arrive close to 8 so that they will have enough time to eat breakfast in the cafeteria and still make it to class by 8:20. We know that the first week of school may be a little tricky with everyone learning the new procedures; however, I assure your things will smooth out given a little time and a lot of patients. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
Enjoy this last week of summer and we can't wait to see you soon!
SBES OPEN HOUSE
Last names beginning with A-G arrive at 3pm, H-M arrive at 4pm and N-Z arrive at 5pm. This will help with parking and reduce wait time. Thanks for being patient and flexible:)
We will not be paying fees at Open House, as this is all done online at https://www.schoolcashonline.com/. In fact, you can do lots of things on SchoolCash Online. Beginning Tuesday, you will be able to purchase last year's yearbook for just $10 (oops, we ordered too many) and there are lots of great school spirit t-shirts available as well. Purchases made through SchoolCash Online on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week will be available for pick up in the office during Open House if you have your receipt available.
For our Open House, please make sure that you begin in the gym to establish car pool and bus procedures and then you can visit your child's classroom. Join our fabulous PTO (those are the nice people giving out popsicles) and swing by the cafeteria for before/after school care, lunch applications, financial assistance, Boy Scouts and more! We will not be registering students the night of Open House, but you can swing by the cafeteria and pick up a registration packet from Mrs. Lori Jones.
Car riders, if you don't want to wait in long lines, please make sure that PRIOR to Open House, you log into your school dismissal manager account and that you set your child's default transportation. Go ahead and memorize your PIN number, we will be asking for it:) Everyone should have gotten an email from School Dismissal Manager this week with your login credentials. If you are a car rider please go ahead and set this up. If you are a bus rider, you will need to wait until OCS bus routes are available.
ARRIVAL & DISSMISSAL
First Day for Students: Monday, August 29th
Kindergarten Staggered Enrollment Aug. 29th, 30th, & 31st. Kindergarteners come only one of those days. Arrive at 9 am on staggered enrollment day.

Bus riders begin loading around 3:45 pm & leave campus around 4pm.
*** Parents are not allowed to walk their children to class (except for kindergarten students on staggered enrollment day). Please use our kiss and drop lane; we will have staff throughout the campus ensuring that students get to class safely.
***Expect delays the first couple of weeks. Do not contact the school unless the bus is over 1 hour late for the first couple weeks. It will get better :) Make sure that your family has a plan if students arrive home and no one is there. Beyond one hour delay or throughout the year, for emergency bus situations, please EMAIL email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org, as phone lines will often be tied up. Bus routes and driver concerns need to be directed to the Swansboro Transportation Coordinator, Barbara Massey (be nice she is new and learning the ropes) at 910-326-1436. SBES does not have a direct way to contact buses in route. This must be done through the transportation department. ***
