Havelock North Primary School - 11th May 2022

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
This week we say a big welcome to our new students Hadi, Edith, Elliot, Louis, Lexi & George. Well done on making such a great start to school kids.
Year 6 Students
I would like to say a big thank you to our Year 6 students who have been amazing role models in our school. Any school is only as good as its senior students as their behaviours set the tone for the rest of the school. As a group they are living our school values every day and I commend them for assisting us with the positive playground tone we currently have.
Below I have included a list of "10 Things that are Cool". They are basically good old fashioned values which we believe assist us in creating great citizens.
Pink Shirt Day
Next Friday 20th May is Pink Shirt day https://www.pinkshirtday.org.nz/
This is a nationally recognised day where we encourage students to wear a pink shirt and bring a gold coin to support this very worthwhile cause.
Covid Update
As per the daily updates, we are still seeing the odd case pop up. We encourage students to continue with basic hygiene measures as we approach the winter season. Thank you for your support with keeping students home who are unwell. It is appreciated.
Have a fantastic week everyone.

Enviro Corner - Term 2 Week 2
Thanks Room 7 for the amazing job you do every week to make a difference to the environment. Your new worm bucket labels look very smart. Washing the plastic milk bottle containers before putting them out for collection displays a great sense of responsibility.
A big thank you to you all for continuing to collect and bring the following items to Room 7 - milk/juice bottle tops, aluminium bottle screw tops, metal bottle caps and jar tops, PP 5 Bottle tops, bread bag tags, batteries (Y3 and 4 would love to reuse corks too:). Thanks Jasper for completing the final sort and taking them along to the Environment Centre for recycling.
The Monday lunchtime Enviro group met this week and are keen to make more sorting containers like the one above for other classrooms. We’d appreciate any ice cream containers with lids. Please bring these along to Room 7.
