Ireland Elementary School
August 15, 2022
Fantastic First 3 Days!
The first three days of school were filled with activities to help build relationships, connections, and a place where students want to be! We believe that if we provide an environment where students feel loved, safe, and valued, they will certainly learn!
Our teachers are top-notch at teaching beyond the standards, but more than that, they want to make a strong connection with each and every student in their classroom.
Cheers to a New School Year!

Positive Messages to Surprise your Child!
Parent-School Reading Relationship
This is the time of year when everyone recommits to helping students succeed. As parents, the task can be daunting, and you are often asking yourself questions. How can I help my child? What should I do with my child to help them succeed?
Often we find ourselves as parents in a reactive role merely waiting to see what our child brings home. Use this Reading Skills List link here to view all elementary grade-level skills. The resource helps a parent be more proactive. It provides focused literacy strategies and ways parents can enhance their child's learning using meaningful practice and reinforcement.
Thank you for partnering with our school to make an impact in your child's life!
Kindness Challenge of the Week
Smile at everyone you walk past all day!
Every week, your child will be receiving a kindness challenge! Jump in on the fun at home too! Help us promote kindness to all - at school, home, and community!
Important Reminders and Updates
School hours are 7:50AM -2:50PM. Students can arrive starting at 7:15AM. Students may not be dropped off prior to 7:15 AM. If you bring your child to school after 7:50 AM, you must escort them to the front doors.
We are highly encouraging parents who are bringing their child to school to use the car drop-off drive. If you would like to walk your child in, you will have to say goodbye outside the front doors. It will get congested there as that is where the buses drop-off. We will keep students moving as much as we can. Many staff members will be at all drop-off locations to help students to their appropriate classrooms. Please trust us that we have your child's best well-being in mind at all times.
All school supplies are provided by the PTO. Your child only needs a backpack, headphones, and a water bottle. Please write your child's name on all items.
Please see nurse Brandi Stiles for prescription medicine intake. All medicine must be accompanied by a parent and include a physician’s prescription. Students are not allowed to transport medicine to school.
VERY IMPORTANT- If your child's transportation changes, please notify the office with a note ASAP.
Car Line Dismissal Procedure - Same as Last Year!
If your child is a car line dismissal student, you will use your yellow car line visor card with a number on it. This number is the same as last year. Please display this car number on your visor when you arrive at school. We will be using an app to signal for your child to be dismissed from their classroom.
As always, we are going as fast as we can, so please have patience with us.

Transportation Safety Update from Mr. Buechlein
The following are steps being taken by GJCS to ensure the safe transportation of students on school buses.
- School buses have been cleaned and disinfected prior to the start of school.
- Students must stay in their own seats and keep their hands to themselves.
- If behavior arises, students will have consequences.
- Seating charts are required on the buses.
- Students are required to ride only their assigned bus.

Overview of program
Anyone can participate in the program. Participants purchase gift cards for every day use including gas, groceries, restaurants, travel, and online shopping. Gift cards can be in the form of e-cards or physical gift cards. You earn a rebate on each purchase. For example, I buy a $250 gift card from Walmart with a 2.5% rebate. I earn $6.25 as total rebate. Half of it goes to me and the other half goes to JES.
How it works
Your earnings are tracked on an annual school year basis. At the beginning of each school year, your earnings from the previous year are applied to any book bills for your students. If you earn enough and have leftover funds, the remainder is applied to their lunch account.
When orders are placed
Families can place an order any time. We place our orders every two weeks for physical gift cards. If someone needs a card by a specific date, they would need to plan accordingly. There are also different gift cards where you can select a “ship to home” option and the card would be sent via regular postal mail. We do not keep an inventory of cards. Everything is ordered as needed. We have several local businesses who participate in the program.
Personal testimonial from JES parent
I earned $128 last year. I personally have a physical gift card for Walmart, Target, Panera, and Starbucks. I add funds to these cards on the spot when I know I’m going to use them. My Starbucks card is set up on the Starbucks app so those funds are automatically uploaded. I buy Amazon gift cards that I add to my payment method. When one runs out, I buy another one to reload it. I buy e-cards through the app when ordering pizza online. There are different times of the year when Raise Right will have special rebates. For example, 17% on Bath and Body Works. This will sometimes line up with their semi-annual sale and I buy a load for gift giving. They also do special rebates during back to school shopping and close to the holidays. I also will look for gift cards when I know I’m making a large purchase. I also buy Dunkin gift cards and add those to my Dunkin app.
This is an easy way to earn money back in your pocket on items you are already buying.
