Salmon Week 18 Update
January 16-20th
Overview
Reading: My Brother Martin is a story told from Martin Luther King Jr. sisiter's point of view. This is a great story to teach point of view and first/second hand accounts. In addition to this story we will be reading several stories, watching online videos and articles about MLKjr and his impact on American history.
All students were given the first part of the mid-year reading assessment and will be given the second portion of the mid-year reading assessment this coming week. We will be adjusting Walk to Read groups to accommodate the needs of the students if necessary
Science: We are focusing on the Three States of Matter (Solids, Liquid and Gas) as well as buoyancy of matter. We will be starting Mystery Science Activities next week to cover force, motion, and states of matter.
Writing: We will begin working on persuasive writing this coming week and think about the different ways we can make change in our world. This unit will continue for several weeks.
