Ottomans and the Mughals

Ottomans

Located in country of Anatolia, modern day Turkey. They are followers of Osman, or as the Europeans called him Othman which is where they got their name, who was their first leader. Mehmed II became sultan, or overlord, after his father died and his greatest accomplishment was conquering Constantinople in 1451 and renamed it Istanbul and made it their capitol.

Mughals

They were Muslims from Mongolia who invaded and ruled India from 1530-1707. Babur got power when he was just eleven and led an army into India. When Shah Jahan became king he built the Taj Mahal as tomb for his wife and he did not continue Akbar's policy of tolerance.
