Good-Bye Short Stories
We've completed our first unit on short stories and learning about various literary devices. Please feel free to go into your Sapphire portal to see how they did on the unit test from last week. We worked on understanding an author's purpose and how they utilize different literary devices to help show their intended themes. Here's what's up next...
Macbeth!
Now, we delve into Macbeth, one of Shakespeare's most well know and discussed plays. In this unit, students will learn dramatic terms and the historical relevance of Macbeth. This play offers much to discuss including what effect guilt has on a person and where ambition can lead them. Interestingly enough, we will also discuss the concept of gender roles and what part they play in both Shakespeare's word and in the world we currently live.
REMINDERS
Class Attendance
Per our school policy, class attendance is mandatory. If your child is logged into Blackboard for daily attendance, they are expected to be in their live classes. If they're too sick to attend classes you should probably excuse them from school as well. To excuse your child from a live class you must email the teacher before the class from your parent email account. Also, please make sure they are signing in a few minutes before class starts. Coming in late causes them to miss important information and work.
Daily Edits
We do a daily edit every day in class. Students are expected to complete the daily edit in class, however if they are absent, they should still complete the daily edit by the end of the week.
Presidents' Day
This is a reminder that there is no school Monday, February 20th. Enjoy the long weekend!
