April 2016
Classroom Updates
Spring is here and we are examining the changes closely!
We are very excited to get outside on these lovely days. What a change it makes! We will discuss the changes in weather and temperature, as well as, other aspects of our environment.
Please check out our TP website. There are many updates regarding our classroom activities.
Areas of focus in the month of April:
Fundations/Reading– writing & reading complete sentences (statements, questions, and exclamations) independent reading (focused and silent), bonus letters (-ff, -ll, -ss), glued sounds (-am, -an, -all).
Writing– personal narratives and fiction
Math– subtraction, interupted counting, open ended responses
Science– weather, rocks and minerals
TP students will not be getting another report card until the end of the year. This will include all academic and social progress, as well as a section with comments. While we do not have another round of conferences, please remember that I am available any time!
I hope you have been seeing the same progress at home that I have seen in school. With the exception of the spring fever sillies, these kids have shown great social, emotional, and cognitive growth since September. I am so proud! With less than 51 days of school left, we will not slow down! I want to make sure these kids are ready for first grade! :)

New Units Coming Our Way!
In March TP students completed a HUGE space unit. We wrote some facts about the planets and other bodies in the solar system. With the help of Mrs. Stoff we created a MoveNote slide show. Enjoy our facts!

In April we will be discussing trees, weather, recycling, and conservation just in time for Earth Day! And of course, we will be tracking those April showers!
We will also discuss needs v. wants. It is fun to imagine our lives without all of our toys and gadgets!
