- Graduated from the University of British Columbia with a degree in Psychology in 1949.
- Received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Iowa in 1952.
- Started teaching at Stanford University in 1953.

Albert married Virginia Varns in 1952 and then became a father to two girls Mary (1954) & Carol (1958)
