You are the Champions!
Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.
-Rita Pierson
Education is a difficult profession. For those who think it is simply about delivering content to a group of well-behaved individuals who willingly soak up this information like insatiable sponges...they are wrong. Being an educator is so much more, as reflected by the quote.
We have a building full of champions here at PHS who engage, console, praise, challenge, and genuinely care about our young scholars. For that, I thank you.
Classroom Spotlight-Mrs. Robertson-US History
The True Story of the Three Little Pigs
Mrs. Robertson uses a satirical literary interpretation to introduce students to perspective and source credibility
Boston Massacre Engraving
US History students analyzed and interpreted this engraving done by Paul Revere
Jon Adams
Viewing clips of the trial was another integral part of this lesson. Did you know Jon Adams defended the British soldiers involved?
Perspective is a Funny Thing
Scholars in Mrs. Robertson's US History class undoubtedly left the room looking at the world and events they would encounter in a different way. Through a lesson that changed gears several times to keep the class flowing and keep engagement high, Mrs. Robertson gave two different takes on the Boston Massacre. It all began with a different perspective on the three little pigs and ended up with me questioning how much I really knew about events in history; Mrs. Robertson wove a tapestry of intrigue and anticipation while at the same time emphasizing the importance of credible primary and secondary sources. Please, ask Rose for more details about this well-crafted lesson.
