Desertification
By Jordyn W
What is desertification?
Desertification is the process in which a landform slowly becomes a desert or desert-like because of erosion.
How does desertification happen?
Desertification is often caused by over-grazing, bad farming habits, harsh climate, and many more causes. This can decrease the amount of vegetative growth that keeps the land in place and prevent erosion. With the plant life gone, the lands becomes sandy and the process is complete.
Areas Affected by Desertification
Issues for Humans
For any human moving to an area suffering from desertification or living in one, they know life is hard. Plants have difficulty growing and animals don't grass to eat. Shelter is sparse and erosion is imminent. Life is extremely difficult and farmers have next to no luck in this land.
