CHECKING ON INJURED (APPEARS TO BE UNCONSCIOUS)

  1. Check for responsiveness
  2. Call 9-1-1
  3. Open their airway
  4. Check for breathing
  5. Give 2 rescue breaths
  6. Check for severe bleeding

CONSCIOUS CHOKING (CANNOT COUGH, SPEAK, BREATHE)

  1. Give 5 back blows
  2. 5 abdominal thrusts
  3. Continue care until object ejected
  4. FOR INFANT
  5. Give 5 back blows
  6. Give 5 chest thrusts
  7. continue care

CPR (NO BREATHING)

  1. 30 chest compressions
  2. 2 rescue breaths
  3. Do not stop until they are responsive
  4. Use AED if available

AED (NO BREATHING)


  1. Turn on AED
  2. Wipe bear chest dry
  3. Attach pads
  4. Plug in connector and stand clear
  5. Analyze heart rhythm button
  6. Deliver shock
  7. Perform CPR

EXTERNAL BREATHING

  1. Cover wound
  2. Apply pressure until bleeding stops
  3. Cover dressing with bandage
  4. Apply more pressure, call 9-1-1

POISONING

  1. Call 9-1-1 or poison hotline
  2. Provide care based on conditions

SEIZURE

  1. Call 9-1-1
  2. Remove nearby objects
  3. After seizure passes monitor child
