What is wind energy
What is a wind turbines
Did you know what a wind turbine is. Well a wind turbine is a huge fan but it is way larger it has only three blades so if it goes a bit too fast it don't live damage. The blades are like three triangles on a circle. A wind turbine goes the opposite way to a cooling fan. You might see a wind turbine if you go to a big farm because they need very big space and farms have lots of space. Wind Turbines have been around for about 1000 years now. One wind turbine can produce enough electricity to power up to 300 homes!!!
How does a wind turbine works
Wind energy works by using a turbine. A wind turbine has electricity things inside it that makes it work. A wind turbine first starts of with spinning very very slow but then it gets a little faster. Wind turbines have blades so the wind can turn it and make energy.
The wind turns the blade, which spins a shaft, which connects to a generator and makes electricity. They have propeller-like blades around a rotor.
What is wind energy used for
Wind energy is used for making electricity. In Australia wind energy is used for electricity generation.Instead of using electricity to make wind, like a fan, wind turbines use wind to make electricity. Electricity can be used for phones, laptops, computers, TV's and fridges. It can be used for lots of life safing things. That is what wind energy is used for.
