Charger Check-In
April 7, 2022
A Note from Ms. Owens
This week has been exciting for our second graders! On Tuesday and Wednesday, our SCA and Faith Formation students participated in their First Holy Communion Retreat. The children gave rave reviews from the retreat. They felt special and enjoyed the chance to focus on how they will embrace this sacrament. Please join me in thanking Ms. Hess, Ms. Willson and Ms. Ward for all they did to make this retreat experience a success for the children!
Several SCA families may have noticed that our school website has been down for the past several days. (The same is true for the church website.) The company that manages both the school and church websites has migrated their services to a new platform and that process has resulted in numerous unexpected challenges and obstacles. We are working to rectify this situation as soon as possible and I apologize for the inconveniece this may be causing you.
Our NJHS Book Drive and Family Faith Formation and Men's Club's Food & Non-Perishables Drive are both continuing through this weekend! All donations can be dropped off in the church vestibule.
I am very excited to share that our NJHS Book Swap is going to happen on Monday, April 11 (corrected 4/7 at 11:10PM). Students who want to participate in the book swap should bring a book on Monday. That day, students who bring a book to swap will recieve a ticket that will allow them to participate in Monday’s book swap.
In addition to the Book Swap, our NJHS students have several other fun, reading-focused activities planned for our DEAR Day on Tuesday, April 12.
- All students, faculty and staff are invited to Dress as a Favorite Book Character. (Students who prefer not to participate should wear their regular school uniform (or gym uniform if Tuesday is they day for PE).
- Our NJHS students will visit PK-2nd grade classrooms to read to our younger friends.
- Our 3rd-8th grade students will be able to play book-inspired BINGO in the afternoon.
- All students will have the chance to Drop Everything and Read during the school day!
As we move into our second month of being mask-optional, most other Covid mitigations are in place. My understanding is mitigations will lifted layer by layer on a very measured basis. By now, you know that large gatherings are permitted - Open House, Fish Fry, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. While it does not affect us on a daily basis, students no longer need to wear masks on school busses. We also have an update to protocols for siblings (or household members) of a person who is symptomatic.
- If a child is symptomatic, the siblings can go to school for one day while the sick child sees the doctor or obtains a Covid test (clinical setting).
If the sick child gets an alternative diagnosis or tests negative, the siblings can continue going to school on Day 2.
If the sick child does not test/go to the doctor and symptoms persist, siblings must stay home on Day 2 until the sick child is diagnosed as not having COVID.
If the sick child gets better in less than one day, everyone can return Day 2.
If he/she tests positive, then normal quarantine rules apply.
