From the Principal
Dear Parents,
We have made it to the month of May and we are moving right along! I am just starting to savor these last few weeks with our students. They go by so fast. I know you are ready for summer to begin, but it brings me a bit of sadness. I work during the summer and the pace of the day changes drastically. This year, we are gearing up to host summer school at CCES and I am pleased to announce Mrs. Richardson will be the summer school principal. She has told me she wanted to be one, so now she gets her chance! She will do a great job during the month of June.
Next week is Teacher Appreciation, and I know how you all step up as families in such a big way to make our teachers feel so special. Our staff is reaching the point of exhaustion by this point in the year, so this week will truly lift their spirits. It is just what they need to push through to the end.
I think it also important to remember four gentleman who do not get the credit they deserve for taking care of us in a BIG way daily. Many of you know we have two police officers who make our morning traffic run smoothly along Birmingham Highway. When they are absent, I field numerous emails from parents, so I am thankful for every day they come to work and do the job that they do. We know dealing with traffic and people behind the wheel of a car is never easy and I sing their praises as much as I can. I hope you do as well. I also think it’s important to recognize our crossing guard, Allen Weissman. He is another person we count on daily to make sure our students arrive safely and what a dependable presence he is! Lastly, I must recognize Mr. Reynolds, our in house security associate. His job at CCES will end on the last day of school and he will be reassigned next year. He was an unexpected surprise to our campus these last few weeks. We appreciate him keeping our building and grounds secure. Please make sure as you recognize our staff, you also consider a small token of appreciation to these four gentleman. They all deserve it for the work they do daily as public servants.
As we close out the year, I want to personally invite you to Field Day and/or class parties to celebrate with us. It has been a spectacular 2017-2018 and we could not do it without YOU!
